“Fantasic Chinatown, new and old”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

This chinatown is a fun place to visit. The new part of the chinatown have some great restaurants, like ken gee and joyee. The old chinatown across the street has great shopping, all at a reasonable price. There are lots to do so plan wisely. If you cant find parking, there is a big lot and parking cost can get quite pricey...i dont remember the price though

“GOOD SIGHTSEEING”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

It's a great experience taking a water taxi in downtown area to China Town goinig into the Chicago River. The view is spectacular over the river.
You can walk from the river to China Town and enjoy the chinese culture, maybe it's too small but has a lot of atracctions for all family, I recommend to visit this place if you come to Chicago.

“Similar to China”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013 via mobile

My wife and I enjoyed it very much. Having been throughout China, the smell one detects is one of the spices Asians use in their cooking. When we smelled it again, we were immediately transported to China!

We went to several of the bakeries to get moon yue bing (moon cakes) which is a famous pastry customarily eaten during the Fall Festival. They are very tasty. If you knew how they were made, you'd probably skip them. In this case, don't overlook them...especially the hong dou yue bing (red bean moon cakes). The ones at Chiu Quon Bakery were exceptional, although more pricey than the competition.

We ate at Won Kow, recommended by many on this site. The Hunan Shrimp was one of the best Chinese dishes we've had, in China or the US.

“A great little escape from the City with good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

My wife and I visited Chinatown via the water taxi which gave us a chance to see some other aspects of the city. Chinatown is not as large as in some cities but is still a good size and has some excellent restaurants. The trip by water taxi was good but required a transfer which added some time, however the landing point near Chinatown was in a small park and was a very relaxing place to wait for the return journey to Michigan Avenue.
For any person with an interst in things Chinese or with Chinese links, this is a very good way to spend part of a day in Chicago.
