Description: This is a new restaurant from the house of Bannos (owners of the infamously popular Heaven on Seven, here in Chicago). They have now opened what could affectionately be called the foodie tourists' dream come true, with everything from bone marrow to fried pig's ears and fresh ricotta as well as a nice selection of paninis, and of course, the wines. Not to mention: Its right on the Magnificent Mile!

“Bacon flavored everything!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Pork seems to be all the rage and of all the porky places in Chicago, the Purple Pig is by far the porkiest! It's all hustle and bustle but you can usually find a spot at the bar without too much of a wait. My favs, bacon flavored turkey leg, shaved brussels sprouts, "JLT" pork jowl, tomato, frisse & fried duck egg, pig's ear with crispy kale...and no, it's not the same kind of pig's ear you give your pet to gnaw on. At first sight the menu seems a little out there, but fear no food it's all amazing plus an incredible wine list. I highly recommend if you're looking to step outside the box and go on a gastronomical adventure.

“A Wonderful Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Not sure what to expect after hearing quite a bit of hype, I was very happy after dining at The Purple Pig. Everything I tried was delightful and delicious loved the beets and goat cheese especially!

“Good, but difficult to get a seat.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

The beet salad is awesome. I do love this restaurant, but it's so popular it's often hard to get a seat.

“luv,luv,luv”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is a must eatery when visiting Chicago. Best to go at off-hours to avoid the wait. The pork shoulder with mashed potatoes is fabulous and I get it every time. Since they are served as small plates, it is very easy to order several things and share.

“Pig like you've never seen done before”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2014

Everything here is excellent. I had the pork belly BLT which was delicious and the lardo which was fantastic. You have never seen pork done the way it is here. Very inventive, creative and tasty.
