“A solid property in the heart of Chicago”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

Stayed at this property for one evening. It was a little confusing to find the entrance as the hotel is right next to a residential property, but all was well once inside. Very clean and stylish lobby, fast, friendly check in. The room - very nice! It was surprisingly spacious for a downtown hotel. The room was immaculate, well stocked with toiletries and towels, and had a stylish finish as well. The bed was comfortable, and the room was quiet. The property is very convenient to transportation, downtown Chicago, restaurants, and entertainment - you can walk to wherever you want within minutes. There is a restaurant in the hotel (I didn't try it), but you will almost literally stumble over several restaurants (and even a grocery store) when you go out the front door. I highly recommend this property - a good value for a comfortable stay.

We chose Hotel Palomar for our first trip to Chicago and I will definitely be back. It was only a two-night stay but it was perfect! We were able to check in very early which was a huge plus, and our corner room on the 12th floor had everything we needed. The zebra and leopard print bathrobes were so comfortable and fun to wear while hanging out in the room. The free wine hour is a huge perk and we really enjoyed it. The desk staff always said hello and welcome back and they were extremely helpful. We made use of the fitness room and the rooftop terrace on the 17th floor and both were really nice. The location was really fabulous. Easy to walk to all the restaurants we wanted to get to (I highly recommend Lou Malnati's and Bavette's) as well as to our boat tour and everything else. I wish we could have stayed longer! If I had to say anything negative, it isn't the hotel's fault at all, but light sleepers might want to ask for a room that doesn't face the fire station. I was surprised how many sirens I heard in the early morning hours.

Hands down, will come back and stay here again. Fast check-in, friendly-informative-happy employees. Rooms and amenities are great! Mini bar stocked with everything from whiskey to water to dried organic mango to condoms....of course all for a small fee, there was also enough space in the fridge to put 2 large water bottles from the 7/11 on the corner. The large closet has iron & board, a set of animal print robes to use during your stay, 2 pairs of what look to be very comfortable comfy socks ($15 cost but you can keep), an extra pillow and a yoga mat to use in sync with the fitness channel the flat screen in your room. The bathroom is ample in size, with high quality toiletries and towels. Hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, soaps, cotton balls, q-tips and high water pressure! There is a list of complimentary items they have on hand incase you forgot or didn't realize you need. Everything from the basic bandaid and toothpaste to cell phone chargers, hair straighteners or humidifiers. There is no coffee maker in my room but you an request one. Indoor pool and exercise facility on site, pool has glass on 3 sides and an attached outside deck to catch a little sun. Exercise room has a wide range of cardio equipment, good selection of weights and different types of core workouts. Palomar is a $10 (including $3 tip) cab ride from Union Station, walking distance to Magnificent Mile, one block away from Hubbard Street which is a block long area of at least 6 different types of restaurants/bars serving up live bands and expensive drinks, most seemed to serve only craft beers so if you are a domestic drinker call ahead. Hotel has a free shuttle service to navy pier that I believes runs every 15 minutes. If there is anything else to add I will repost as we are still here and are not leaving until tomorrow and just about to jump on the shuttle to head to navy pier.

We stayed at the Palomar for one night. While checking in I realized that we needed to obtain a screwdriver (forgotten at home) to take apart my daughter's lacrosse sticks to be able to fly out the next morning and it was late in the day-I wish I knew the name of the young man who helped us. He located a philips and helped my daughter disassemble her sticks so she could check them in her bag. From providing an umbrella, to bringing my valet ticket to my room (distracted by lacrosse dilemma), to directing me to a nearby gas station for my rental car-every hotel staff person provided the best service! We booked on hotels.com, but I would seek out the hotel in the future.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Hotel Palomar and will definitely be back! Our room (junior suite) was spacious, modern and super clean. The large bath (huge shower and incredible fuji tub) was an unexpected treat but the best part of the Palomar is the staff and service. From Bleu, the bellman extraordinaire to Mark, our concierge, we have to say they have cornered the market on hospitality. The location is superb - we will be back. Thank you Palomar!

My wife and I stayed here in April after flying in from Vegas. We arrived in the evening during the floods and after a long cab ride from the airport we were feeling jaded. Check in was swift and polite and the room was very clean and comfortable. We stayed only for two nights but all desk staff were of the upmost quality. They assisted us in all information and organisation from tours, meals to bars to visit. This is what makes your great hotel a memorable hotel. Your staff. Thank you

Room Tip: Great staff
