“ABSOLUTELY PERFECT”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2011

From the moment we arrived to the second we checked out, our stay at the Hotel Palomar was wonderful!! Beautiful hotel, super clean, and a perfect location! The staff was super friendly! The view from our king deluxe room was beautiful (as well as the view from the terrace!) Our room was super clean and pretty big too! Thanks for the bottle of wine too Palomar, it made our anniversary week even more special! We'll be back next month for a few days to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday! Can't wait until then!! Wouldn't stay anywhere else in the city! We absolutely LOVED our stay here!

We've stayed at the Palomar three times now. Excellent staff (friendly and responsive), central location (close to both Magnificent Mile and the Loop), attractive decor, lovely, spacious rooms -- and their restaurant, "Sable," is also top-notch. Particular favourites: the lap pool and the hotel lounge, which offers a morning coffee/tea service and afternoon drinks.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet location and a high floor. Corner rooms are large and luxurious.

We recently stayed at The Hotel Palomar for a wedding and we really enjoyed it. From the valet staff, the front desk, and the restaurant everything was GREAT! We especially loved the restaurant Sable. We enjoyed dinner there on our first night in Chicago. As a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised at all of the choices there were for me on the menu. Be prepared to try new things (especially the drinks!) We also came back after a day on the town to have some drinks at the bar. It was pretty busy but our bartender was very attentive.
The hotel itself is located close to a fire station so there is the occasional siren. Make sure to head to the top floor (17th) to check out the outside patio. It was really nice and we had it all to ourselves. There is no hot tub and the pool is indoors. It was so hot during our stay (July) that we probably would have used the pool if it was outdoors.
The hotel room was very nice and cozy. The king size bed was awesome and we looked forward to crawling into it at the end of the day.

Room Tip: We loved the corner room! Less walls to share and at the end of the hallway.

In summer, average Chicago rooms are not cheap. So it seemed like a rate of $305 for the Luxury 1-Bedroom Suite may be worth the extra money when travelling with the kids, as the sofa converts to a bed. The 2-room suite was huge and it has a monster size tub and shower. Free WiFi if you sign up to Kimpton loyalty program. The only negatives: noisy air conditioner and the sofa bed was not very comfortable.. not recommended for adults. Location is good... short walk to river walk or Michigan Ave, and plenty of Starbucks and good restaurants. It's a pet-friendly hotel, so if you are allergic, you may want to steer clear (although the place is very clean). I heard people complain about not getting AT&T phone reception in building, but Verizon is fine.

I stayed here for about a week with my wife & young daughter and we had a great time. The rooms are well appointed, the bed was probably the most comfortable that I have ever slept in (including in my own home) and the linen was very high quality and immaculately clean.

Quite a big busy hotel but the staff were friendly and excellent. We really enjoyed the 17th floor 9if I remember correctly) swimming pool (although the water wasn't very clear (good quality just not very clear).

Location was excellent as we didn't have a car but could walk to loads of the touristy things around.

We wanted a quiet room and they gave us one with a lovely view on 14th floor but warned that there might be some noise and they would be happy to change. They were right - Palomar is quite close to a main fire station and those US fire truck sirens pierce anything. But we decided to stay put as the positive view outweighed the negative noise.

A lovely stay - thankyou Hotel Palomar.

Room Tip: If room faces East Grand ave you might well hear fire truck sirens

Dear craftsbury:

Wow - thank you so much for such an outstanding review. We couldn't be happier. It means a lot to hear such kind words and we are just thrilled we could make your time with us special. It certainly was a fun weekend.

I think you may have mistakenly given us only one out of five points in the section below the written review, but I think the readers will know you meant to give us 5 out of 5.

Take care and we hope to see you back with us soon.

Warm regards,

Nabil Moubayed
