My wife and I had a couples massage at the Peninsula. The hotel is among the best I have ever stayed in the world (see my other review). The spas, while good, does not live up to the reputation of the rest of the hotel. The therapists were quite good. My wife, however, said hers was very quiet and hard to understand (poor English). Overall, we were very pleased with the massage. Strictly speaking about the massage, the quality was as good as any resort we have ever visited. The only real concern was the facilities. The waiting room was not very serene, as it is in a high traffic area, and the lounge chairs are right on top of each other. So much so, they have a draw curtain between them. Other than a steam room, there are no amenities in the locker rooms and to sit in a jacuzzi you need to go to the common pool. The therapy rooms, like the waiting rooms, were very bland. The lobby is the same entrance as the gym and you have to walk through the lobby, from the locker rooms, to get to the therapy rooms. We really enjoyed the massages, but the spa in a great hotel or resort is supposed to provide a “spa experience.” The spa experience did not occur.
