Tucked away on 23rd St off the old Chinatown main street, Go 4 Food sounds like a highly suspicious restaurant waiting to feed customers with overly sweet/salty Americanized Chinese fare. Honestly, what kind of name is Go 4 Food? Usually, I would not even consider stepping in. But with so many good reviews, I had to try it out.
We were celebrating my mum and brother's birthdays together. So that means lots of fresh seafood! At last, a restaurant whose menu does not prominently feature crab rangoon and sesame chicken. We started off with a complimentary lotus root and sweet potato soup. Then, we had salted egg dungeness crab, salt and pepper prawns, steamed fresh fish and garlic stir fried pea pods. My mum could not stop saying how good the food was. Fish and crab were fresh from the tank but I doubt the prawns were. Regardless, we enjoyed them very much. We ended the meal with some warm pumpkin sai mai lo, which was also complimentary.
If you want a affordable authentic Cantonese meal, I highly recommend Go 4 Food.
