“Best in Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

The Waldorf-Astoria provides quiet luxury just steps away from the best of Michigan Avenue. The spa is lovely, the rooms spacious, and the service is discreet and attentive. Breakfast is creative and delicious.

Immediately upon arrival there is no question as to why the hotel has won many awards. It is immaculate inside and out. My family and I had a three night stay and it was an unbelievable experience. I have stayed in a few nice and luxurious hotels before but nothing can come close to the Waldorf experience. Everyone on staff we encountered morning, noon, and night was nothing but friendly and professional and made us feel like we were the only people at the hotel. Karen and Andrew greeted us upon arrival for check in and told us about all the Waldorf has to offer. Any organization would benefit by having these two on their team. While the building is nothing less than awesome it's people like Andrew and Karen that put our stay over the top. The Waldorf owners should be proud and resting easy with staff members like these guys. Not only did they welcome us they also recommended several restaurants that were within walking distance and let us know they were available any time to assist us. There was not one thing this hotel or staff fell short on it was truly an amazing experience for our family. The room had its own fireplace and balcony with great views of the city, nightly turn down service, Tvs built into the bathroom mirrors and an extremely comfortable bed.

Room Tip: Being the Waldorf I would guess any room would be great.

We have been fortunate to travel quite a bit, although not always at a Waldorf Astoria level. However, I have experienced a number of other high end, luxury hotels and resorts. The Waldorf Astoria in Chicago delivered an outstanding experience for my wife and I. Our expectations were exceeded in every instance. We can't wait to stay again.

I arranged a spa weekend not much different than our previous stay. Wife loved the spa amenities and actually bought some products this time. Staff at the 3rd floor bar has changed, nice folks but not nearly as engaging as our first time there. Libations were great, did the cheese/cured meat platter which was again awesome. A friend of my wife joined her for some of the spa services, and also for apps at the bar. Afterwards, Wife and I go up to the room to relax and ......, 3x interrupted for 1 of the 4 products bought at spa left behind, another wrong room luggage, and wrong room gift delivery. Honest mistakes, but when one has a getaway from child you (quoting Martin Lawrence from Bad Boys "want Quality TIme"). The room was great, there was a bit of a mix up with the valet when leaving, we have a black Highlander, they brought up a new black LX570, maybe I should have taken it?!?!

Room Tip: They seem to try to upgrade Hilton Honors Members when possible.

I've stayed at many 5 star hotels around the country in New York, LA, Miami, Austin, Phoenix, etc. The Waldorf in Chicago is probably the best hotel in the country. I know it was rated the best in 2010, but I mean it when I say it. From the cleanliness of the hotel, to the quality of the rooms, to just everything. 10 out of 10
