The hotel is old-school classy looking, especially compared to most cookie-cutter hotels.
The staff were all very friendly and professional.
The room was a little smaller than some hotels I've stayed at, but certainly clean and comfortable, with a small 'kitchenette' area (fridge, microwave, sink). The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were too soft and mushy for my liking.
A few of the nice amenities: a common area with free snacks (fresh fruit, cookies, tea, coffee, etc.). Free chilled bottled water on every floor--actually it's a water dispenser with a rack of fill-it-yourself capped plastic bottles, which I haven't seen before. There's free laundry machines (including soap), though it's only 2 washers and 2 dryers, so I imagine it could get pretty busy at times.
I did not eat at the restaurant, but it was always busy, which is usually a good sign.
The location is right in the center of downtown on the Chicago River. Not too expensive considering the location and all.
