“Excellent Service, Great View, Price is Right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

I stayed at the Club Quarters for 3 nights last week. Great hotel - I will definitely be back. Used to stay at the Monaco, or the Sofitel when I was a corporate employee. For the self-employed, Club Quarters is a better option!

My first Club room was tiny but cozy. Unfortunately, it backed the elevator shaft, and I could hear the mechanism. I was upgraded without asking, to a larger room with a river view. Instead of asking me to come downstairs like in most hotels, one of the front desk staff came up to my room with a new key and helped me move into the new room. Excellent service.

The view from the 21st floor of the river, Marina City and the new Trump Building was outstanding. I actually missed the cocoon feeling of the bed in the smaller room, but the larger room as a plus.

My standard for hotels is air conditioner loudness and the Club Quarters exceeded my expectations. Pretty silent central AC (unlike the Philadelphia property, where I had to sleep with a pillow over my head to dampen the loud hum). I could hear nothing from the rooms around me, except the person in the room next to me slammed the door every time s/he entered, which seemed to happen a lot between 1 and 3 am. Luckily, that person was only there for 2 nights.

There is a large lounge with coffee maker and fruit/snacks for breakfast and snacks during the day, during the week. Good snacks like M&Ms, wasabi peas, banana chips, nuts and trail mix. The rooms also come with mini Keurig machines - and my favorite Keurig brand - Caribou Coffee.

The location is excellent. Walk to Michigan Avenue in a couple of minutes, many excellent restaurants - touristy and in local neighborhoods. The Loop el (L?) trains are all right there - and the Blue Line to OHare stop with an elevator is about 4 blocks away.

Room Tip: High floor, river view rooms

This is a place for somebody who wants to drop their bags and get out of the hotel to sight-see, returning only at night for a place to lay their heads. Great location at the foot of the Magnificent Mile. While some rooms have iconic views of the river, they are all generally SMALL rooms that have seen better days: mine had torn carpeting and wallpaper, featured two sets of pictures (one set bolted on the wall and another laying on the floor) and mold starting to grow in the shower. "Business Center" is shared with another hotel and when I visited computers were missing or slow. Worth it for the money, but expect convenience not luxury.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the river and the iconic "Wilco" towers.

I booked this hotel through hotwire so I didn't know what I was getting into. I was a little nervous but was pleasantly surprised when I got there. Good service, friendly staff. Great location! Clean. The only reason I rate it 4/5 is because the rooms are very small. I would stay here again!

The location is great: 1/2 block from Michigan Avenue on the Chicago River. The rooms, however, are the smallest I've ever stayed in. Bathrooms are OK but also very small. The hotel and rooms are very clean and well maintained but I doubt I will ever stay here again.

The occasion was a business trip to Chicago, accommodation provided. Booked into the hotel for three nights, I just had to high-tail it out of there after night two. What they don't tell you in the hotel info, is that the rooms start on floor 11, and to get to any of them requires a key card inserted into an elevator slot. Problem: the key cards tend to wear out ridiculously quickly. So, you get into the elevator, the door closes, the key card goes in and nothing moves. Creepy. Or, maybe you get to your room --on the 17th floor --and trusty key card won't open the door; a colleague needed three replacement key cards in less than 24 hours. The hotel also sports numerous check-in machines, like the ones at airports or those self-check out stations at supermarkets. Punch in your name and out comes a thin slip of a paper with your room number, and also the key card. Mine was meant to be a queen room, so the staff simply zipped two twin beds together --while I watched. And then there's the slow WIFI and wacked out computers in the "lounge," which seemed to be frustrating everyone. My work colleagues and I dubbed this the Hotel Walmart.

Proper recognition can't wait: Bryan, a member of the concierge team, was the most remarkable hotel staffer I've ever come across. He was patient; he provided suggestions for quick eats near the hotel; he smiled, was jocular and accommodating in so many ways. When I needed my baggage stored for a few hours, he was on top of it. Without Bryan at the helm, I would have likely given the hotel a four, but the five circle distinction is merited here.

About the hotel: It is centrally located and within a stone's throw of the most impressive swatch of urban architecture in the U.S. The Chicago river wriggles below and numerous gorgeous International style and Art Deco buildings emerge from the river banks. A well-regarded pizzeria serves the hotel at the lobby; guests of the hotel can carry a tab to their rooms.

The floors through the 25th level come with hallways equipped with water bottle stations gratis. That's a smart feature. The two elevators can drag on a little bit during a mass check-in period, but the wait isn't more than a few minutes. The tower rooms, those above the 25th floor I believe, have majestic views of the city skyline. The rooms are smaller than your average mid-level hotel, but each one comes with coffee, a work station, premium cable on a wall-mounted TV, a queen-sized bed, blow dryer, iron and board, and other accoutrements. Wifi throughout the hotel is free, though good luck streaming a Youtube video, nevermind something via Hulu.

About the lobby: The hotel provides several computer stations with free printing. Wifi is throughout. The second level of the lobby has his and her bathrooms, several well-cushioned lounge seats for reading and those pivoted toward a large flat television. A coffee station prepares gratis coffee and espresso drinks, though the drip coffee comes out better than the espresso products.

Room Tip: The floors through the 25th level come with hallways equipped with water bottle stations gratis. Tha...

Stayed at this hotel for six nights for a conference. The location is definitely perfect for an affordable hotel in Chicago. Almost all major attractions are in walking distance and near many restaurants and pubs. The (single bed) room is very very small but still acceptable for a single traveler. Room is clean and comfortable. Staffs are friendly and helpful. The restaurant Bella Bacinos served good foods.

Several things should be considered if you are going to stay here. 1. no in-room safe. 2. no refrigerator in room. 3. they don't accept traveler's cheques as payment form.

Room Tip: Book a large room can have a river view.
