Went to Chicago over the weekend of April 20th. Lots of one way streets around the hotel. This hotel is definately for business people. No gift shop so my kids were disappointed. Parking is not included in the hotel price. We had to park next to the hotel and pay $40 for the night. (Wow!)
Breakfast was very good and plentiful. Had lots of places to sit in the morning to eat breakfast.

Was hard to sleep because people were hanging out in the hallways talking. So rooms not very soundproof.
Next time I will stay outside of downtown because the traffic was a total nightmare to drive in!

Room Tip: Try to stay on the upper levels. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we looked at a wall.

I traveled to Chicago via train, arriving at the Amtrak Union Station located between Adams and Jackson streets. This hotel is approximately 5 blocks away from the train station; you don't even need a taxi to get there! This is rather convenient even for the departure: just leave your luggage at the hotel, spend the day in the city and then pick it up in your way back to Union Station.

I reserved a room with one double bed, and it was big by all standards.

The (free) breakfast was particularly good, much more than continental: waffles, eggs, bacon in addition to cereal, oatmeal, fruits, biscuits, bread and the like.

Even though you're not at the heart of the Magnificent Mile, if you walk barely 4 blocks you will find a worth while shopping area on State Street, in addition to a variety of affordable restaurants.

Moving around is not a problem: bus stations as well as the CTA metro stations are within just a few blocks of the hotel. I recommend purchasing the CTA passes (I had the 3 days) which give you access to ALL buses and subways lines in the city. Moving around could not be easier!

And, if you are a AAA member, your room charge will be way under the $200 threshold that most of the Chicago hotels charge you.

This is definitely a good deal, but particularly attractive to those traveling via train.

Stayed here 3 Nights April 13-16, Let me start out by saying, to some throwing out 200 dollars a night for a hotel is cheap, To us it was a bit pricey, so I expected maybe a little more than my average 100 dollars in Nebraska! :)

We got in late in the day from a 9hour bus ride and Tom come running out and grabbed out luggage immediately, so with two kids and traveling all day what a relief with HEAVY luggage, they got us in our room, it was on the 9th floor, NO view, and the shade was broke, we asked for another room they were booked for the night so that was minor to us, Beds were comfortable. The lobby staff was very friendly at all times if you had any questions!

Breakfast is delicious treat considering most of the hotels downtown Chicago do not have breakfast or a pool, wide variety for different diets, Fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins, breads, cereal, eggs, bacon, sausage, and bagels, not bad!

2nd night they decided we could move rooms so we packed up all of our things, and Tom came up and grabbed our luggage, to hold till a room was cleaned, we had to wait till 3pm or after, when we got to check into the next room we walked in it was obvious, the housekeeping had just maybe made the beds and that was in, there was coffee sticks laying on the floor, clearly wasn't vacuumed along with other things laying there, chairs out of place, bathroom floor had dirt & hair still from the night before.
So we called downstairs again, to switch...Tom had all of our stuff on the luggage rack and a manager came up to move us again. We loved the next room, looked fairly clean.

The next day, after housekeeping got done, they cleaned absolutely nothing, they thru a pile of like 7 towels on the cupboard, no extra shampoo or soap, coffee, didn't dump the ice bucket or put new linings in, no trash can back in main room, didn't vacuum. So I politely went downstairs and told them of the problem with housekeeping, they sent up a housekeeping manager, she was disgusted also with the person that cleaned the room. She ended up cleaning the room again.

Everyone is wonderful and courteous at the front counter, just some small problems with housekeeping is why im giving this a 4 because they did do wonderful.

of course they didnt offer to compensate us, not sure why the manager said, but when i asked if he would he more than willing helped us out with the bill :)

This is a great area i will stay again, walking distance to everything, 8$ cab ride to the Pier. Willis tower is practically down the block, Lots of food options also!

We love Tom the bell boy (staff) he was our favorite part of this hotel!

Room Tip: Ask for a room by the main road Franklin so you can watch all the busy life of Chicago. We would sit...

I'm not suggesting I had low expectations, I just didn't really have any expectations at all. But...wow. Great hotel, great location to the Loop area (and still just a short walk to the Millennium Park area, and a decent walk to Michigan Ave shopping.
We walked into our room and were blown away - it was huge (Room 914)! Great size (for 2 people), great desk space, mini fridge, microwave, couchy type thing...very impressive. Plus, a great size closet and an awesome size bathroom. And shower. Seriously, very impressive.

Parking is right next door in a public garage with in and out privileges, just have your ticket validated at the hotel front desk. It was easy to maneuver and you barely have to go outside to get there!

The breakfast, which is complimentary with stay, was nice. More than just a fruit and pastry continental breakfast. Definitely worth checking out.

We were still able to walk to various restaurants, and we had a quick easy drive to United Center for a concert.

I would stay here again in a second. Sure, it's not quite as convenient as river north, but it's a great value and is still close to a lot that downtown Chicago has to offer.

Stayed here 3 nights in early April 2013, I have previously stayed at the hotels in the River North area but this trip I needed to be near the train station. This hotel is in the "Loop" district. I found this to be an excellent value, although the neighborhood is not quite as vibrant for tourists once the businesses close up shop. Most of the nearby restaurants are catering to the white-collar business crowd. I found the nearby Roti Mediterranean Grill on Adams a great place for a healthy inexpensive dinner as well as lunch.

The hotel itself had a good breakfast although it was crowded later in the morning. Their coffee was weak and the dominant flavor seemed to be coffee filter. There is a Starbucks across the street and the in-room single serving Krueger coffee-maker made a surprisingly good cup.

The hotel staff was absolutely cheerful and positive through-out my stay. Upon arrival, I couldn't figure out how to get the Krueger coffee maker working, I called the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy within 5 minutes! He happily explained the sequence. In case you wonder, you must close the lid where (where the coffee-cartridge ultimately will be placed) before you start the sequence. Then just follow the sequence shown on the side of the coffee-maker. They leave it open to show that it is clean he said, but this confounds the sequence shown on the maker. In the end, though the Caribou coffee was excellent.

Anyway, back to the important stuff: the room, #418 facing Franklin St. was quiet. The buiding goes up 4 or five more floors which would have been even quieter. The soundproofing in the rooms and windows is top notch. My room was right next to the elevators and I could just faintly hear it. I always wear earplugs but they usually fall out during sleep eventually. The L trains were far enough away that they weren't heard either. Maybe twice during the night I heard sirens or other loud street noise but nothing out of the ordinary for a downtown hotel.

It was an easy walk to the Union Station, Willis Tower, Art Institute of Chicago, Millenium Park, Sears, Target, and countless 7-11's, Walgreens and of course Dunkin Donuts shops.

The room was nicely appointed clean and had refrigerator, microwave and good fast wi-fi.

All in all, I'll be staying here again on future trips to Chicago if they keep the price competitive.

Room Tip: Room 418 was fine, facing Franklin Street not the alley. Higher rooms may have been even quieter acc...
