L2O was recommended by a good friend. From his description, it was everything we expected - great food, great wine and amazing service.

“Hits on all cylinders”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2014

The cooking was divine; the wine list was deep; the sommelier was an expert tour guide of the list; the wine pairing menu was gestalt; the atmosphere was discreet. This was truly a wonderful sensory experience in every way. I have been three times. Each visit is a surprise and re-introduction to culinary and service expertise at the highest levels. Thank you!

“Really a bit overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

Being over in Chicago for a few days, we decided to try several of the city's most valued top-class restaurants. L2O was among the restaurants visited, but we're sorry to say that it did not live up to our expectations. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the friendly staff's performance is absolutely impeccable. So a big plus there. It's just the food that disappointed us. We had the 4-course set menu and we felt that most dishes lacked imagination and were average, if not flat, in their taste. The chef clearly likes repetitive structures, but to us, the surprise was consistently gone after the first part of the dish (and then you have to go through 3, 4 even 5 repeats on the same plate). Some dishes could have done with some additional 'bite', for that matter. All in all, L2O did not excite us or stood out in any way. Given that, the very hefty price tag cannot be accounted for, as far as we're concerned.

“Classy - elegant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

This is a great restaurant. The food is exceptional with fascinating wine pairing and attentive but not obtrusive waiting staff. The venue itself is super cool - the entrance is almost like going into a 1920's Speakeasy, hidden inside the building at 2300 Lincoln Park West, but once inside is pretty funky. The food however is the star - as a fish dominated meal it was impossible to fault. Wine pairing and sommelier first class. Highly recommended.

“Had Coffee spilled on me twice”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

My night with my family was something out of a comedy because of service. The food was okay and I consider myself a foodie. I wish the food was as amazing as how clean They keep their kitchen.
The fish take in the bathroom was an interesting touch.
