We stayed in a suite which took my breath away from the moment we came into the room (actually, they had me at hello in the Lobby!). Dark, wooden floors, kitchenette, living room, and super-spacious bedroom were ours for 5 days! The decor was hip without being over done and it was super-modern in terms of all the possible technology connections available.
We had breakfast most days in the restaurant downstairs...LOVE the lobster scrambled eggs. The bartender and host were very nice and remembered us each day.
This was my first real vacation in Chicago, and the location of the hotel was PERFECT for walking to everything...including the planetarium (a bit far, but we did it anyway!). "The Bean" is about 6 blocks away. Garrett's popcorn: about 3. Train: right down the street. We also did a horse and carriage ride near the Water Tower (our tradition in new cities). Definitely do a tour of Lake Michigan if you never have before -- great to see the city from a different perspective and to learn the history of the buildings along the Chicago River.
Speaking of which, our room had a perfect view of the river from our bedroom. We didn't get to spend a lot of time in the room, as there is SO MUCH to do in Chicago. We did not rent a car and got around just fine. The concierge was super helpful and with the help of GPS we found our way to some unplanned activities.
It was nice to have such a beautiful and relaxing space to come back to each day.
We visited the club on the top floor but didn't stay long...it was super crowded but looked like a fun place to hang out. Plenty of restaurants and convenience stores in the area. We were glad for the fully stocked kitchenette so we could store, reheat, and eat our leftovers in comfort.
Overall: I wish there were a Wit in every city I go to! Better yet, do my house like this! :-)
