“Very good sushi”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

Very good sushi, especially the "inventive" rolls (red spider..., black shrimp, etc), less impressed by spicy tuna and unaghi rolls.

“Good food, small space”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2014

I have wanted to try this place for years and finally did – it has always looked very quaint. And, it is. I would first off recommend having reservations as the dining room is very small. Ironically, the bathroom was bigger than most everything. It is a bit cramped, we went with another couple and the two men in our group were both six feet and over and had a hard time fitting in. I think if they could take out a table or two it would provide a little more comfort (or smaller chairs maybe). The sushi was very good. We had the egg rolls as a starter and they were excellent. The Big Friends and Winter rolls were excellent, nicely put together. Not the best I have ever had but tasty. Prices were very fair for being in the city, the same as we pay in the suburbs. I would recommend this as a date night kind of place, hard to have a group of four here as it is very cramped.

“Nice 2pm lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 25, 2013

I brought two young children and a teenager here at 2pm on Christmas Eve. Our waitress was patient and provided a lot of advice to order something that the whole youthful table would enjoy, and she hit it out of the ballpark. One kid didn't want sushi, and ordered noodles with beef. His order was good and then he tried some sushi. Then he wanted to know if there was vegetarian sushi and out waitress once again advised him to the avocado sushi, which he liked. The inside of the restaurant is very white and sleek and a little grown-up, but I do not regret bringing the kids here. I really think the non-sushi eater tried the sushi because of the beautiful presentation of our food and the professional and kind waitress. Going in to restaurants during off peak hours is often a good idea with kids, and introducing a food this way in this restaurant really worked out. So if you are shopping on Michigan Ave with a gaggle of kids and question if this would be a good place to take a picky eater (during non-peak hours), I would say yes. I would also go back there for just adult time, good sushi at reasonable prices.

“Decent sushi”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013 via mobile

We stopped in for a late lunch and we pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is a little off-putting, but the service was quick and the sushi was pretty good. We especially liked the ama ebi, hamachi and white tuna. There is a short but decent selection of saki.

“Overbooked and cramped”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2013

We had reserved a table and had to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. We weren't the only ones. Our table was cramped and jammed into a corner. This restaurant really needs to step it up as the average quality of the food does not compensate for the shoddy dining experience.
