“Absolutely Wonderful”

Stayed 2/15 - 16 and had a wonderful stay. Staff is very friendly, especially Daniel. Had a Junior Suite that was very comfortable and very eclectic. Room was so comfortable we never felt guilty spending a few extra hours relaxing after many hours of touring Chicago. Loved it so much, several friends and business associates have now made reservations to stay over the next several weeks. Hope the rates don't climb too high after renovations are completed.

“Great Stay at Affinia”

My husband and I stayed at The Affinia Hotel last weekend and were very surprised at how nice it was. Check in was fast & the staff was very friendly . The room was fairly large with a king size bed. The bathroom was very large with modern fixtures. We had a good view of the Hancock Tower from our room. Location was great -just 1 block off of Michigan Ave. We already have reservations to come back in April!!

  • Liked — Location, room was clean & modern
  • Disliked — some floors still under construction.

“Wonderful in every way!!”

We stayed at the Affinia through the Travelzoo deal ($99/night + free parking) and couldn't have been more impressed. The lobby was gorgeous (maybe a little small but who cares - it's the lobby). The staff was gracious, polite and accomodating. The doorman offered to get us a cab and sincerely asked us about our adventures. The desk staff offered to find us reservations or directions. We were pampered! The room exceeded our expectations. We even loved the "white noise" options on the alarm clock. Being next door to a medical center we worried the sirens might disrupt our sleep but the white noise completely canceled out any street noise.

While room service would have been nice, we didn't miss it at all with Gino's next door, wonderful dining on Michigan Avenue just steps away and Walgreens around the corner, we had everything we needed.

The location was especially convenient. The hotel was in between wonderful shopping on Michigan Avenue, Water Tower Place, the 900 Shops and the John Hancock Tower. We were in love with this hotel and hope we can afford to stay there when the construction is complete in March (speaking of construction, we barely even noticed it).

Even parking is convenient. We had free parking through Travelzoo (which saved us about $40/night) but there is a parking ramp across the street.

This hotel made our first Valentine's together special.

“Great Staff & Location, Great All Around Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2008

I had read all the reviews written about this hotel and most were good, but they really did not do the hotel justice. Affinia is a wonderful hotel. Yes they do have construction going on and the lobby is small but the staff and the quality of the rooms more than made up for that. We had a group of 14 stay Feb.8-10th with all diffrent styles of rooms thru the travelzoo special. Some had the standard rooms which just have a shower( but a huge walk in shower) or the studio suite which was just as big and spacious as the junior suite which both had a bath tub in place of the walk in shower. All the rooms were great, very clean and comfortable. The hotel have no resturant but across the street in chicago place there is a Mcdonalds & a food court. A short distance away is a nice sit down breakfast place call West-Egg, very good food. Walgreens is right around the corner. This hotel is, at the most, 300 feet from michigan ave. Chicago Place, "900" the shopping store and Macy's, Disney store, on and on and on, are all at your foot stool if you stay here. Wonderful location. The staff was GREAT our group had ages from 9yrs. to 80yrs. and they were all catered to like they were the only ones at the hotel everyone felt welcome and special, it was awsome. One of the persons in our group wanted a handicap room, which we thought was going to be on the ground floor but it was not, so he was upset at first, but when he saw his room and experienced the stay he was happy and already is making plans to return in May. The only draw back is the elevator system its sort of crazzy, you have to use two diffrent elevators to get to certain floors, that was weird.

“Nervous at first, but WOW!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2008

We found this hotel on Travel Zoo for a quick weekend get away with our two boys and were a little nervous because we saw that it was going through a rennovation. But the price was hard to pass on ($99/night) and it had free parking (normally $40/day), so we bit the bullett.

WOW! What a pleasant surprise. From the staff, to our room, to the location. Everything overshot our expectations. We paid the extra $20 to upgrade to a suite and it was worth it. The room was spacious and decorated contemporary, yet very comfortable. My wife loved the Aveda bath products and our boys enjoyed the view and the extra room.

I worry that once the renovation is completed in March, we will not be able to afford staying here, but I am glad we had the opportunity and encourage anyone else to take advantage of the reduced rate now while it is still going on.
