“Loved this hostel-”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2009

Stayed here for 3 nights at the end of my holiday to the states- clean, friendly staff, free wifi, bed was ok (i slept fine). Shower and toilet in room were cleaned everyday. Would stay here again if given a chance- even had free luggage lockers after i checked out.

This was a chain hostel but was suprisingly good. Very roomy 4 and 6 bed dorms and clean common facilities. The staf were helpful and the location was excellent. A good place to meet travellers from all over.

Very good hostel, staff great, rooms clean, bathroom facilities great!
Student accomidation for the next door university is located on the top few floors so it is a reasonably young place to stay, ie. 20's-30's

This hostel felt like a hotel. Great location, near State St and Michigan. Also, near Grant Park. Had a lot of things to do inside and they provided and advertised activities to do outside. Walking distance to many bars, restaurants, bus stops and train. Room and overall appearance of place was clean. The shower was kind of everywhere...needed a new shower head. The only complaint I have is, the pool table only had one stick, and it didn't have any chalk...so I lost!!! A little quiet there though meaning it is not a close knit atmosphere...kinda felt empty.

Had a great time at the hostel in Chicago. As far as hostels in the US go this one of the most well-equipped and pro-active in terms of organising activities. The volunteer organisers were enthusastic and took us on a fab night out where I met loads of new people. There was also a brilliant information area with literature and advisors.
It's a massive place. i was lucky to be put in a room with only 1 set of bunk beds and got on well with my room-mate. There was a spacious common area outside the room. The neighbours were a bit rowdy but obviously that's nothing against the hostel.
Breakfast was good. There were several internet points. Only downside was the noisy train line straight outside the window which led to sleepless nights.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2009

Inside it's a nice hostel, clean and friendly. However I had a room that faced onto the "El" train line, which was very loud almost all night long. And it cost me $27!!!!! to park across the street-- and that was a discounted rate! If you ask for a room away from the El, and don't have to park a car, it would be fine.
