“GREAT hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

My husband and i travelled to Chicago to see a concert and decided to stay at this hotel. It was a great pleasure staying there. The rooms were recently renovated and were very clean. Size of the rooms was really good and view was amazing. We saw the city alive!!! The staff was extremely friendly. The hotel was big yet charming. It almost had a boutique feel with a grandeur appeal. Would definetly stay there again.

I stayed here for a conference in 2003.

Since I just recently joined Tripadvisor, I thought I should offer my two cents to members on this one!

The Swissotel Chicago is a great property for business, leisure and individual travelers. It is centrally located, and their staff is knowledgeable and able to provide you with very good ideas on activities as well we good input on where to dine, etc.

We had a very enjoyable conference and I still have a vivid memory of the entire stay, though it has been a while since I have visited.

Taking Swissotel´s operating standards into consideration, I am pretty sure that the service, quality and value provided than is still the same, or even improved to date.

I would definitely stay here again if happen to return to Chicago.

The Field Museum package at the Swissotel Chicago was a fantastic quality for a short family getaway. With the breakfast for 2, VIP Field Museum tickets for 2 and access to the 42nd floor pool and gym, you can't ask for a better value.
The hotel was even able to accommodate an early check-in for us. We had a wonderful time with our daughter and certainly go back again.

This sleek hotel, run with Swiss efficiency, is our favorite place for a weekend vacation. There are usually package deals available which include room, VIP tickets to a major attraction, use of the fitness center, and breakfast in the Geneva Room. The triangular tower shape means there are no long halls that funnel noise and that every room has a good view. We have never been disturbed here by drunken parties or unruly children. If you plan to stay in a lot, you may want to upgrade to a lake view room to enjoy Navy Pier sparkling in the night. The generously sized bathroom is spotless with soft towels, robes, and very hot water. The bed with enormous pillows is extraordinarily comfortable. The breakfast buffet features many fresh, healthy foods and eggs can be made to order in the kitchen. The fitness center offers a variety of machines as well as the pool. Our only complaint is the charge for wi-fi which should be included. And we do recommend you ask the staff for directions to the Pedway, the underground walkway system which is accessible from the hotel and will spare you many blocks in the cold Chicago wind.

Room Tip: At the time of reservation, indicate if you need early check-in. They can often accommodate this req...

My husband and I stayed at the Swissotel in July and had a great experience. It's the second time that I've stayed at this hotel and would definitely stay there again. We got a great deal through our Continental Presidential Plus credit card.

The room was a great. The views from the room were absolutely stunning. We had views of Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. Definitely ask for a room on a higher floor; the higher you go, the better the views. If you are visiting Chicago during the weekend, don't miss watching the fireworks from your room! You'll have the best views and get great pictures.

The hotel is perfectly situated between Magnificent Mile and Millennium Park. It's centrally located to all the great touristy things in Chicago. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park and Navy Pier.

While you're in Chicago, you must do a architectural boat tour. The tours are just a few minute walk from the hotel since they are usually right near Navy Pier.

Room Tip: A higher floor will ensure great views.

We stayed between Christmas and New Year. There was building work taking place so it was not obvious where the entrance was.

I think they said it was a park view room but I couldn't see a park. That said, I am not interested in paying extra for a better view. The bed was, I think, one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever slept in! The shower was good too.

We found the location to be good - easy walking distance to the sights/attractions we were interested in.

Didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on that. My rate was booked as a package and pre-paid but they knew nothing about this on check-out and so I had no choice but to pay and then wait for a refund once they confirmed it had already been paid for. Okay, they kept me informed of what was happening but I imagine they have people staying on flight +hotel packages all the time - surely they know about this kind of thing?

One more thing, the 'business centre' shuts very early at the weekend. It would be an improvement to have somewhere accessible 24 hours with your room key.

Looked to stay here after seeing several good reviews, and and pretty good prices on several websites, but could not find a site that didn't post hundreds of dollars in extra person fees. If you looked up a room for 4 people they would give you the price for the double and then in the summary show $300 in extra person fees making it well over the prices of any other hotel. $300 for extra people for 3 nights?! Bah! I would also look up 2 doubles for 2 people (sort of cheat the system) and they wouldn't even post rooms available for 2 beds unless it was 3 people or more and then charge you extra person fees on top of that. Expedia, Priceline, Momondo, Bing, all the same story.

As 4 collage students looking to spend part of their spring break in Chicago, this is not the place for a good deal for an off season deal. Bummer.

Room Tip: Look for a good deal somewhere else. Most other hotels only charge $50 to $75 for extra people. Look...
