What a wonderful smaller hotel- staff was great- room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel was in a good location- close to the Loop - in Printers Row. Wonderful area that is undergoing a gentritfication. Nice little gem!

I stayed here for one night while interviewing with a financial company about 2 blocks away. The company paid for me to stay here, and I was a little skeptical because I've had some bad experiences in the past with Choice Group Hotels. Once I got there, though, I breathed a sigh of relief - this turned out to be a great hotel. Staff is friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom was probably the biggest I've ever seen in a room that wasn't a suite - had two sinks and a big tub/shower. I was in a corner king room so that may have been why. Bed was very comfortable, and they provided bottled Evian water in the room (for $4 a bottle). I think this is an older hotel that's been brought up to modern standards so it has newer hotel decor, amenities, and conveniences with older hotel class & charm. Room service is available, but I didn't use it - I just went down to the hotel's restaurant.

Some stuff to watch out for: The tub/shower in my room had a high side that may be difficult to handle if you're older or have hip/knee problems. You may want to request a handicapped room if you think this could be a problem for you or simply call the hotel and ask for a suitable room. Another thing, as others have noted, the neighborhood, while *not* dangerous, does not have much going on around it compared to other parts of the loop or the Magnificent Mile. Just something to be prepared for - either be ready to venture a little ways from the hotel to find restaurants & stuff to do or stay somewhere else. It is, however, a bit closer to the Museum Campus and Soldier Field than other hotels where I've stayed in Chicago in the past if you're planning to go to those places.

The hotel is just a block or two away from the LaSalle St. station of the Blue Line which means you can get to/from O'Hare without having to take a cab. The ride takes about 50 minutes, and is about the same as being in a cab when you factor in the highway traffic that always seems to linger. If you're driving into town, it's right off Congress Parkway not far from where I-290 ends. It's probably a short cab ride from Union Station if you're taking the train.

Room Tip: Corner King rooms are great. Had high ceilings, but I think all the rooms do.

We stayed here for an overnight stop in Chicago.

The hotel is in a very convenient location, within walking distance of attractions and restaurants.
The rooms are clean, modern, and comfortable. Their prices compare very well against other hotels in the area.

The staff is friendly is helpful, specially the Bellboy.

Hard to beat.

This property, on the list of Historical Places, is on the south side of downrown, only one block from the public library and the Library CTA stop. Formerly a Hyatt property, it has been completely refurbished and has a wonderful restaurant associated with it. The rooms are spacious and the beds comfortable, except that I would have liked softer pillows. The shower (no bath) has a directly overhead shower-head, with heavy water flow. My wife did not like the overhead shower-head as it was hard to reach (too high) and tough to avoid washing ones hair no matter how it was pointed. While on Dearborn Street, the location was remarkably quiet.

Newly renovated, with spacious room and bath. Very upscale and much improved over the previous version.Very convenient to our daughter and family who live in the South Loop. The adjoining restaurant, Mele, was excellent. Wonderful breakfasts, very generous portions. The Blake is an excellent choice choice for downtown Chicago and convenient to many of the cities attractions. Several nice neighborhood restaurants for alternative choices.Would definitely recommend!

Stayed at this refurbished older hotel into a Boutique Hotel in the South Loop around Printers Row.
We had a corner room with very large windows on two walls. The room was spacious including the washroom which was also very large. The lobby was simple and the restaurant attached was very functional. There are only two escalators of which one was on the fritz, which made wait times increase. Not a reason to avoid this hotel. The hotel was clean and elegantly decorated and above all was very reasonable compared to all hotels in the area. It's location was ideal also.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a higher floor because of the traffic noise can be loud.

Stayed for two nights in early October for business. Loved everything about the hotel from the cozy entry, to the huge room, comfy bed and spacious bathroom with double vanity and glass shower. Free wifi is always appreciated-thank you! The restaurant next door is excellent. Really enjoyed my stay and would certainly stay here again.
