“Great People, even Better Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

Friendly and helpful, our check-in was swift, staff let us leave the car out front for a few minutes, and told us of a couple safe lots for parking as alternative to more pricey hotel/valet parking. Getting to the room was a bit tricky, as we were on the 8th floor, a non-existent elevator button, with a half-floor walkup from 7th floor--just a little odd, kind of a Being John Malkovich kind of quirk. The room, two queen doubles, was flawless. Bathroom with fun, glass-walled walk-in shower reminiscent of European hotels but with a large double-sink and perfectly clean. Super comfortable bed, lots of extra pillows. 4 stars not 5 only because the restaurant is oddly situated down a hall, through two sets of double doors....and an order for wheat-toast took 25 minutes to bring, with no explanation or apology--that seemed a bit long! We stayed for a graduation weekend in mid-May, and the staff were especially helpful above-and-beyond in helping to carry in several large boxes and later help my graduate son take them to the local FedEx office for shipping. The best part is a great location, easy to walk over to the parks of Michgan Ave, or up past the library for shopping etc. Enjoyed our stay!

The hotel was in a good location, the subway was really close by. The rooms were large but the space lacked furniture. There was free internet, and complimentary breakfast. I would have to say that was my only critique. If you wanna call a muffin, coffee and banana a breakfast then you will be happy. I was not impressed! Overrall If you dont care for breakfast and want a close location to the subway, then this is the hotel for you!

Spent 5 nights there recently on vacation. It's a good value. Clean, convenient and a friendly helpful staff left a positive impression. We would gladly return. The(free)continental breakfast could use some improvement, but the Blake overall takes good care of their guests.

A short walk from La Salle subway stop on the Blue Line brought us to the hotel door to be greeted by very friendly & welcoming staff. We were also given a couple of vouchers for drinks at the hotel bar which was a nice touch.
The room was spacious & quiet & looked as if it had undergone a recent refurb.
Excellent shower which was most welcome after flying in from the UK with a good choice of TV chanels.
The hotel had a restaurant which we decided not to use as there was a good burger place a couple of blocks away close to a CVS pharmacy where we stocked up on drinks & snacks rather than using the mini bar.
The location of the hotel is ideal for walking to the lakefront and exploring the museums and parks.
They have a complimentary continental breakfast which is extreemly limited and not ideal if you are unable to eat sugary muffins or pastries so we paid for a more substantail breakfast which was well prepared and good sized portions. How much would it cost the hotel to include a toaster in the complimentary breakfast?

The hotel has free internet connection and a computer if you do not have your own laptop and the 12.00 check out made it a very relaxing stay.

We wanted to stay there when we returned from visiting the West Coast but they were fully booked on one of the nights, but we would definately stay there again next time we visit chicago.

This was our second stay at the Blake, and this time we were upgraded to a Premium King room. All I can say is wow! The room was spacious (especially for a large city) and nicely appointed. The bed was very comfortable, and it was great to have two sinks in the bathroom. This hotel is clean and quiet with a friendly staff. The only thing that would have made the stay better is valet parking at less than $44 per night. But it is Chicago, after all. Will definitely check out the Blake again next time we are in Chicago.

Really nice hotel in a very convenient location in Printer's Row, just about a 10 - 15 minute walk from Michigan Avenue and the Art Institute. Nice rooms and friendly, capable staff. We had a slight problem with our room - after showers, there was a strong sewage smell - the front desk took care of it immediately and moved us to another room - providing a free upgrade and even complimentary drinks at the bar that night. The hotel is undergoing some construction, which may have been the cause of our issue, but otherwise, you wouldn't know they were working - we never heard a thing coming from the construction area. The breakfast, as others have mentioned, is not great, but enough to get you going til you can get over to the nearby Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. I would definitely stay in the Blake again.

Room Tip: For now, steer clear of rooms by work zone

My wife and I recently stayed and Wyndham Blake, and we found it to be a very decent hotel. The staff was extremely friendly (especially Showtime) but the room itself was below average. The vents in the room had lots of dust, and the bathroom shower had mold in it. The location is great and is in walking distance to Michigan Ave and that famous Garrets popcorn. If travelling by car, self park for 25.00, as opposed to valet parking for 44.00. I would probably stay here again if the shower were cleaner.
