“One of the best Italian Restaurant’s in Chicago”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Set a few block out of the heart of down town, it is definitely worth the trip, especially in the summer when they have a great out door area. The food is first class, very authentic, fresh and expertly cooked. Thoroughly recommend the Stracci di Farro or the Gnocchi D’Inveno, both are excellent.

Also has a great wine list, with some excellent Borolo’s and a very nice Dolcetto d’alba if you want something a bit lighter, and less expensive, over a quick lunch.

“Authentic Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 12, 2014

Warm, inviting atmosphere with fun, casual yet efficient and knowledgable waitstaff. The sweetest, most delicious aged balsamic vinegar I have tasted. We meant to buy a bottle, but we forgot! Our favorite item was the pasta, cappallacci di zucca, local pumpkin and amareti cookie stuffed pasta with brown butter, walnuts, and sage. The spiced wild boar ragu with pappardelle pasta was also excellent. The whole sea bass was cooked perfectly , but really nothing special as far as preparation.
They were either out of or not offering panna cotta for dessert, so we shared to molten chocolate hazelnut cake with hazelnut gelato. Very rich, and delicious but balanced nicely by a strong espresso or cappuccino.
We usually try different places when in Chicago, but may have to go back here, especially for the pasta! Oh, and to buy their balsamic!

“Fabulous”

I love this restaurant! The food is wonderful and flavorful. I would recommend Piccolo Sogna to anyone living and visiting Chicago. It's a must. The best part is that you can buy their wonderful olive oil and vinegar. I never leave the restaurant without purchasing some to take home.

“Great food”

Our first visit to this restaurant-- great Italian food and service, reasonably priced. My only complaint is the noise level.

“Niente speciale”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

About my fifth visit but first in a year or so. I had 4 guests for a business luncheon on a Friday afternoon. After two bottles of their most expensive Amarone I should have loved the place but upon reflection, I found the staff relatively inattentive (Not an Italian waiter to be found ) and the food good but not great. Two of my guests loved the sea bass, my Veal Marsala was a bit thick and I could have used a serrated knife so you know it wasn't that tender. For appetizers, the Parma prosciutto appetizer was great the fried calamari, served with no sauce of any kind (until we requested marinara) was just OK.
This place used to be the hottest table in town it's still OK but for the prices you can do a lot better in Chicago
