We have just returned from a few days in Chicago (our first trip there) and will certainly return! Loved the city, and really enjoyed The Sutton Place (soon to be something else).
The hotel had a deal on Travelzoo, which made it all worth while. We had a beautiful corner suite on the 15th floor that was modern and had wonderful views out all the windows. Tons of sunlight and very quiet. The room was huge and everything was ultra modern, including the nice big flat screen tv. Comfortable bed and lots of pillows. The bathroom was large and we enjoyed the separate tub/shower combination. The bathroom was a bit 'old' but very clean. Lots of counter space.
We were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room! Unfortunately we were not told about the complimentary coffee (I read it in a review just moments ago) and needless to say, I would prefer to be able to make a cup of coffee in the comforts of my room instead of having to look decent and head down to the lobby!
Another disappointment was that you have to pay for wi fi! That's a bit cheesy considering even the cheapest of hotel chains now offer their wi fi for free!!
The hotel is in a great location! Tons of great restaurants right outside your door, and everything else including the "Mag Mile" is within walking distance of the hotel. Beautiful side streets to just wander along and look at all the amazing architecture and old buildings.
Staff was very friendly, and we always got a 'hello' or "welcome back" as soon as we came through the front door of the hotel. What we truly enjoyed was our conversations with the doormen, especially Gary! He is an icon himself, and always has a smile and is more than willing to advise you about places to see, things to do. He would be one of the reasons we will come back.
All in all, it was a great trip, and we will certainly return to this hotel due to it's location and Gary!
I would not want to pay "full price" for my room, but certainly will watch for any great deals that come out.
