“the best- hope I can afford the new "Thompson"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

Sutton Place was characterized by its staff and village like neighborhood. Our favorite urban hotel in US- I am a commercial developer and have traveked extensively and thet treat my wife as a special person- everyone is "celebrity".

Please keep us informed of the renovation

jim and june nance

Room Tip: the folks and beds are great lake view rooms have a great glass to square foot ratio !

“Vaue for money in an excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

This was my second visit to Chicago having stayed at the Conrad on Michigan Avenue previously. I wanted to stay closer this time to the shopping and dining venues and chose the Sutton for that. It is ideally situated a block away from Oak Street Beach and The Magnificent Mile and well surrounded by restaurants and has a tremendous Pancake House restaurant right across the street. The rooms are comfortable and clean and bathrooms were spacious , having a separate shower and tub which I prefer. The hotel is 3-4 star and therefore not luxurious but we were very satisfied for the price we paid.Staff were always obliging. I would recommend this hotel to others.

“Great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

Room was very clean except for the bathroom (shower area) looked like it needed to be redone. Not terrible just paint coming off hinges, tile, etc. I would still stay again, the room was very quiet, staff excellent and very hard to beat the location if you want to be around Rush St. and yet close to Michigan Ave. Forget the restaurant, the decor is something out of a barn which does not fit the place at all (no one wanted to eat breakfast there) so plan on eating elsewhere. Doorman and valet were excellent. Overall great stay!

Room Tip: Get a high floor to avoid any street noise.

“Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Great location, very nice hotel .... Near all the restaurants, bars and shops
They charge for the internet and the vallet is very expensive, so its better find other place to park
They were very nice to put a microwave in our room for us (baby bottle) and a crib as well

“Enjoyed our stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

We have just returned from a few days in Chicago (our first trip there) and will certainly return! Loved the city, and really enjoyed The Sutton Place (soon to be something else).
The hotel had a deal on Travelzoo, which made it all worth while. We had a beautiful corner suite on the 15th floor that was modern and had wonderful views out all the windows. Tons of sunlight and very quiet. The room was huge and everything was ultra modern, including the nice big flat screen tv. Comfortable bed and lots of pillows. The bathroom was large and we enjoyed the separate tub/shower combination. The bathroom was a bit 'old' but very clean. Lots of counter space.
We were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room! Unfortunately we were not told about the complimentary coffee (I read it in a review just moments ago) and needless to say, I would prefer to be able to make a cup of coffee in the comforts of my room instead of having to look decent and head down to the lobby!
Another disappointment was that you have to pay for wi fi! That's a bit cheesy considering even the cheapest of hotel chains now offer their wi fi for free!!
The hotel is in a great location! Tons of great restaurants right outside your door, and everything else including the "Mag Mile" is within walking distance of the hotel. Beautiful side streets to just wander along and look at all the amazing architecture and old buildings.
Staff was very friendly, and we always got a 'hello' or "welcome back" as soon as we came through the front door of the hotel. What we truly enjoyed was our conversations with the doormen, especially Gary! He is an icon himself, and always has a smile and is more than willing to advise you about places to see, things to do. He would be one of the reasons we will come back.
All in all, it was a great trip, and we will certainly return to this hotel due to it's location and Gary!
I would not want to pay "full price" for my room, but certainly will watch for any great deals that come out.
