“Not”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2010

Stayed for two nights in October. Begrudgingly give it 4/5. The room was very nice, the bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was enormous with comfy robes. Just didn't live up to either Ritz or Four Seasons standards. Shower handle came off in my hand, reception could not deal with multiple reservations (took four phone calls and in-person discussions to address), and housekeeping refused to take no for an answer (that one was three phone calls before I was kicked out of my room for cleaning).
Limited bandwidth internet is complimentary. Good location for shopping on Michigan Avenue.
Would only stay here again if we couldn't do the Four Seasons or Peninsula. Or stay at a less expensive hotel.

We are just back from a fabulous stay at the Ritz Four Seasons in Chicago. I was traveling for a conference, but my husband and five month old daughter also came with me. The staff was amazingly accommodating for our baby. They brought up a crib, small refrigerator, and hot water kettle. They also had a perfect loaner stroller for us to use. All at no charge. Of course paying what you do to stay there, you'd expect no charge. The service was excellent. I've never walked into a hotel lobby and felt underdressed but every time I walked through the lobby I felt I looked so frumpy compared with the fellow guests. Top rate hotel and made traveling with a baby very easy.

This is a nice hotel well situated for Chicago's main attractions. Our suite on the 22nd floor was large and very comfortable with an outstanding view over the lake.

However, there are a couple of imperfections that detract from what should have been a uniformally great experience. One was the shower - for $800 a night I expect (a) a separate shower cubicle and (b) more than the trickle of water that emanates from these showers. The other was the painfully slow and inaccurate breakfast service from waiters and a kitchen that are clearly overstretched. We never managed to complete breakfast in less than 50 minutes, which if we had been on business would have been a major issue. As a result (and because the restaurant is in the lobby, which I hate) we did not eat dinner there.

Overall, I would stay here again, but not for the price I paid!

I had an amazing stay at the Ritz Carlton. The service was incredible! The food was kinda pricy, but it was good. There is a apple store near and a American girl right next to the ritz!

Beautiful room overlooking the lake! The large flat screen was positioned right in the middle of the beautiful view though :( .
Great location on Michigan Ave by Watertower. Very pretty lobby and bar area, once you go up the elevator to the 12th floor. You must take another elevator to reach rooms.
Front desk staff were friendly and professional, but did not follow through on requests.Other staff were unprofessional and many lack understanding of the English language.Yes this was Chicago.Concierge was helpful and friendly.
Horrible perfumed amenities, please switch to unscented or natural.
Bad service at restaurant, waitress disappeared.Food oddly was EXTREMELY over salted and over peppered (black pepper).Green salad entree was truly inedible and sent back twice (never have I sent food back twice, but I was hungry and you really could not even take a bite of it-and I like spicy food). We were one of 3 tables at restaurant and staff was busy setting up for next meal, and no one but our waitress spoke English.
Request for removal of down and feathers from room due to allergies was not done, though this was confirmed at check in. A man who barely spoke English was sent to change pillows and disputed comforter was down until I pulled out a feather to show him. Very unprofessional and inhospitable.

Spa and pool area had many young (under 5 years) visitors on the Sunday we arrived. Not very relaxing, maybe it was a special event?
