“Most Family Friendly Luxury Hotel in the City”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2013

Every year we take our boys to Chicago and it has been hard finding a property that offers the luxury amenities we adore while offering a child/family friendly environment. I booked this property because online they boasted about the fact that they enjoy providing the highest service even to the youngest of guests. Our boys ages 4 and 6 had an absolute wonderful time at the Four Seasons Ritz Carlton. We booked a suite with a view of the lake and Navy Pier that had a bedroom for us and a living room with a sofa sleeper for the boys. Upon check in a toy cart was brought out and our children were allowed to select a gift. They were beyond excited! The staff even set up a tent in the living room for the boys to play in and had children's bath amenities including toothbrushes and tooth paste along with tear free shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. You can even have a Candy Man bring the candy cart to your room to have your child select a treat. We ate dinner at the hotel restaurant, Deca, and found out that children 5 and under eat free...an added surprise we had not been aware of. Tony was our server and he made our dining experience at the hotel quite wonderful. My son had ordered pizza and it came out as more of a thin flatbread that he wasn't expecting. Tony immediately could tell he was disappointed and without missing a beat told him he had chicken fingers on the way -- to which my son was delighted to hear. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed we truly enjoyed our stay. We felt we had all of amenities we enjoy in a hotel as adults and that the hotel made it possible to enjoy a family weekend in a big City hotel.

Room Tip: During the Summer the view of Navy Pier allows you to see the fireworks from inside the comfortable...

This was a great hotel in the heart of the shopping district. The Water and Air Show was going on during our stay and we had an amazing view from the window in our room. The staff were very accommodating, professional and courteous. The room was spacious and quiet.

It is a little awkward changing elevators to the tower with the guest rooms, but is probably a good security measure. We would definitely stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: The higher floors have better views of Lake Michigan.

Dear Vickieanda,

Thank you for joining us recently at The Ritz Carlton Hotel Chicago and thank you for your review. It gives me pleasure to hear you received great service, making you feel at home, and that you enjoyed your accommodations. Sorry you found the dual elevator room access difficult but you are right in that it is beneficial as a controlled security precaution.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!

Sincerely,

This was a bit ago, but we stayed here when we came with a group from San Francisco to watch the baseball series between the Cubs and the SF Giants. We stayed here where the players were also staying. The accomodations were amazing, the room was great, the service was amazing, the concierge and the front desk help were very helpful. The meet and greet on the premises was wonderful! If we come back to Chicago, would love to stay here again. Also, shopping is right on the premises, which for me is a plus plus plus!

We recently spent a week at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago. It's a beautiful hotel right in the heart of downtown Chicago. They are known for their perfect service and they never disappoint. Our room on the 28th floor was wonderful and had a great view of the lake. It might be a little costly, but it's worth it for a wonderful experience.

In July , I recently stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Four Seasons hotel in Chicago. A stunning hotel , grand lobby and a wonderful, trendy outside bar area ! The room was wonderful , average size for city hotels, but seemed newly decorated and clean. The hotel is on top of the mall making it very convenient and steps away from the Water Tower and wonderful shopping on Michigan Ave.
This is a must stay hotel, service was great and I look forward to returning in October!

We stayed for a long weekend in August for a family visit and loved it! We had requested a lake view room and did get one that had an amazing view of the lake (29th floor). It turned out it was the weekend of the big Air & Water Show, so, we had a front row seat from our room. Service was terrific as always. We did not utilize many hotel services so can't comment on them. Though we did have a drink one afternoon at the new "Dec Bar". Rather underwhelming. Service was fine but its location, on the 12th floor off the lobby, did not offer much in the way of views. Nice setting, but not worth the price of drinks. Now, that said, we would definitely return and stay as the hotels location is so convenient to shopping (it is in Water Tower Place), the lake, entertainment and all that Chicago has to offer.

Oh my where do I start. Though the hotel, rooms, and just about every person I ran into during the brief stay there was great, one employee that clearly stands out: Gabriela Abreu.

You see this was not a normal stay, it was a night that changed my life for the better and she simply went beyond a normal Ritz employee that was already a perfect 10 and pulled out an 11+! When I spoke with your reservation department it was a very warm reception as it should be. I was telling the reservations person about my intent to fly from Houston only to pull off a surprise proposal to my now Fiancé and fly back that very next day was not going to easy. In an effort to try and explore all possible options to try and make this stay even better, I asked to speak to a manager if possible. Twenty two years experience in the industry up to a GM myself, I wanted to pull out all the stops and make this event one to remember. Thanks to Gabriela is was… and then some.

After racing to the hotel to drop off my luggage from a crazy, and I mean crazy plane trip that started the day before, I raced out to pop the question with the very small window of opportunity I had. It was so much fun surprising her and her family and of course I got to hear that ever so important word “YES!”

Being that she was staying with her family in a different hotel around the corner, we gather up her luggage and pulled up to our hotel. She was so surprised! Who wouldn’t like the hotel. The Front Desk person that I spoke with to get the key to the room, as it wasn’t ready (nor should it be) at 11am when I was trying to make my window to pop the question earlier, looked down at the reservation, looked for the ring on her finger, smiled and said congratulations. Smooth.

After spending some solid quality time with Gabriela on the phone weeks prior when booking, I knew she already went out of her way to help with an amazing rate and room, but WOW. We got up to the 22nd floor, put the key in the door, and then was blown away again. 6 small individual pasties on a bed on brown sugar, with a bottle of red wine and a note, saying congratulations. But wait there’s more! The room, it was elegant, breathtaking, and had such a nice view of the city at night, it was wonderful!

Hats off you the Ritz, your employees on the phone and the ones we had the pleasure to meet in person, but most of all to a special employee that made it a night to remember.

From a very happy Michelle and Jason to a very special amazing employee Gabriela, a sincere thank you, thank you, and thank you!

-Jason
