“Stellar service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2011

Let's dig into the details:

Service -
Bellman - F. We arrived and there was no offer to help with the luggage (trunk of the taxi was full). It wasn't that busy and they definitely were standing around.
Front desk - A+. Stellar service. This is more like it / what I expected from the Four Seasons (yes, a bit confusing - a Ritz hotel run by the Four Seasons).
Maid Service - A++. Room was always promptly made up and turn down-service was discrete.

Room - The rooms are very nice and quiet. However, there are more modern hotels in Chicago (such as the Peninsula). Obviously the building is old and they have done the best with the space that they could without investing massive sums of money to upgrade the rooms. We had a corner suite, which was very large and had a great view of the lake.

Other - If you have small children, this is the place to stay. Our daughter was able to pick out a small toy from a wagon they wheeled out upon check-in, they had a play tent already set up in the room, and child bath products. This is Four Seasons service at its best.

This was my first time to Chicago to go shopping on Michigan Avenue and to go to a Cubs game. My mother and I stayed at the Ritz Carlton and got a deluxe room with two beds. I found it hard to find a hotel room with two beds. They seem to go fast in Chicago. I am so glad we sprung for the Ritz Carlton. This hotel offers access to everything and the Concierge was the nicest, most helpful person. The directions to take CTA to and from the Cubs game were perfect. We loved our stay. We could not tell there was anyone else staying at the hotel because it was very quiet. As with every other Ritz Carlton I have experienced, the room service is incredible. We ordered dinner twice and breakfast every morning and their food is great. We will definitely stay here again. The hotel is right next to the John Hancock tower so you have to go to the observatory which is open 9AM to 11PM everyday.

We stayed here for one night for my daughter's 5th birthday. While the package is rather pricey, you get your moneys worth and more. My child was spoiled with one thing after another and she was completely thrilled every minute we were there. Other packages will cost less but this was worth every penny spent. Our package included a welcome present, a travel bed for her doll, a visit from the candyman and his huge cart of candy, breakfast for 2 adults and valet parking. You don't even have to step outside to get to the American Girl store. I cannot say enough nice things about our visit to the Ritz Chicago.

The Ritz is always top notch in service and this one does not dissapoint. The location is terrific with the Water Tower and Michigan Avenue. The rooms are updated and beautiful and the view of the lake is magnificant.

We were recently in Chicago for our anniversary. The experience was wonderful. From the bellman to manager, we were always met with a warm greeting. The concierge took care of getting the flowers for me, along with some personal touches of her own. The restaurant staff greeted us with a Happy anniversary card signed by the staff, and the hotel even tossed in a nice bottle of wine. The location is terrific, the staff is unbelievable. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel like " ...it is all about you..."

A wonderful property with some of the best service anywhere. A joy throughout, with beautifully appointed rooms and a gorgeous lobby.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the lake. We had views east and north in a corner suite.
