“Elegance at a price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

The Hilton Palmer House is an elegant hotel with wonderful decor and charm. It is centrally located in downtown Chicago in the LOOP. It is close to "L" stations, so getting around town is easy.

The "Pro's" - clean, well maintained, nicely appointed rooms, comfortable bed, quiet (except for one night with the noisy children next door)

The "Con's" - no free Internet (really?), separate charge for the athletic center (of course), no in-room coffee maker (seems silly), and no advertised pricing for Internet and athletic center (typical big hotel tactic).

Bottom line - the feeling of getting nickel and dimed detracted from an otherwise good experience.

Room Tip: I cannot speak to other floors or sides of the hotel as to views or train noise. Our view was looki...

Best hotel bed ever. Temperature in room was easy to adjust. Conveniently located to great shopping and Off Broadway shows. Hotel staff was eager to be of service to their guests. Quick 30 minute commute to O'Hare airport. Hotel accommodated my request to "de-feather" my room prior to arrive due to environmental allergies.

The Palmer House Hilton is a beautiful older hotel located in downtown Chicago. The domed lobby with its beautiful painted ceilings will take your breath away. The rooms are nicely appointed although somewhat smaller than other hotels which have been built more recently. Like most upscale hotels you have to pay for services such as internet al la carte and as with other downtown Chicago hotels, the parking expense can be pricey. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the downtown area. The Palmer House is close to downtown attractions such as Navy Pier and the Magnificent Mile.

The Palmer House is beautiful! We loved the location! We found the room to be clean and comfortable. The lobby is nice and the little lounge inside is a fun place to stop for drinks. The staff is not very nice/helpful and things are expensive, but overall it is a wonderful place to stay!

With a lobby ceiling that looks amazing (apparently restored by the same person who worked on Sistine Chapel) the experience is of old world charm with a great location. Rooms were large and comfortably appointed. A lot of features recognizable from famous movies. Fun experience all round. Friendly staff and great bar.

The Palmer is so historic you can just imagine the number of celebrities who have stayed in your room. Despite the age of the hotel, the hotel is modern and gorgeous. The staff helps you at every turn and, if you can, upgrade to the executive lounge! With its own concierge and continental breakfast, well worth the cost!

Rooms are small and need renovated. For the price I would stay at another hotel. Rooms offer comfortable beds and clean. Room noise from other guests. Great location and Hotel Lobby is nice close to lots of eating and park Front desk and check in and check out was good and Bar had fairly good food. Prices are average for hotel on food and internet in room is ok.
