“Fabulous place to stay in Chicago..”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We came here a few years ago for our Honeymoon and I have to tell you there's no place like this. The check in process was a little long but well worth the wait. Beautiful rooms a little on the small side when it comes to the bathrooms but they have everything that you would need in them. Palmer House is centrally located on the loop with everything basically at walking distance. First time we rented a car but being centrally loacated it's really not necessary. If it's up a bit Taxi's are always available all times. The decor and history of this hotel is amazing. You can walk around and see all the pictures of people that have stayed there from the Rat Pack to Fred Astaire. The bar located in the lobby is a great place to get a night cap after a busy day of shopping on Michigan Avenue. Will be back again and again.

I had 2 rooms reserved for 3 months ahead of time for a special weekend getaway with extended family. The hotel did not have the rooms ready until almost 2 hours past check-in for one room and 5 hours for the other. Needless to say, this interrupted our visiting time to relax in the hotel. Management said "they dropped the ball." My son found a big stick pin on the floor while playing with his brother. I expected more from this hotel. Hope they can fix the lack of coordination and cleanliness. I think another hotel in the area would have been a better deal for all involved.

The picture of the lobby says it all; WOW! SUch a magnificent unique place with a great history. The service is good, though as with many hotels they could use more people at the check-in/out desk. It is conveniently located, great amenities and the restaurant serves a great breakfast.

A stay at each of Chicago's 3 Grand Hotels is on my Bucket List. This one hit all the marks for the history and opulence it's known for. That ceiling is magnificent. Sit in the lobby and gaze up, the crick in the neck is worth it. The overnight stay was nice, not over-priced for the city. Use the "Hilton Honors" check-in line for super-quick service. For more history and amazement, walk over to the Art Institute!

I recently stayed at the Palmer House in Chicago. It was quite adequate. The room was small as was the bathroom, however, the public area, bar, location, and restaurant more than made up for it.
For a weekend rate of $119 it was a STEAL.
Being from the NYC area staying in a major city hotel for that price made it Quite a travel deal.

Room Tip: The room is sufficient size for 1 person or perhaps 2 who don't mind a small space.

I had a wonderful stay at this property. Check-in line was super long, but the HHonors line was empty when I arrived. The lounge at executive level was rather busy too, selections for breakfast and snacks are adequate, but not great.

I had room 9-2010, which was a double queen and enough floor space to hold a small dance party. Everything about the room was comfortable and charming. Even if you do not stay there, at least take a walk through the lobby. The history and story of the Palmer House is amazing. Sit in the lobby, order an (expensive) beverage and admire the ceiling. Ask the lobby staff about the artistic features and they will point out details that are truly special. Because the Palmer House is in the loop it is close to many restaurants, businesses, tourist attractions and shops. It is also just a block from the L / train, and two blocks from the famous Michigan avenue which hugs the impossibly expansive Lake Michigan. Palmer House is worth the price, but if you can't manage it do at least visit the lobby.
