My husband and I stayed the Hotel Monaco in Chicago recently, and we had a very lovely time. Nick at the front desk went above and beyond to welcome us during check-in. The Kimptons have an evening wine hour, which is one of the things we enjoy. This night there was a very good guitarist playing and singing requests from his audience. A really nice touch. They also served spiced wine, though we stuck with the always pleasant red option. The lobby has a good amount of seating to sit and listen to the music while enjoying a glass of wine. We had dinner at the restaurant in the the hotel, South Water Market, and enjoyed it completely. Service was very attentive but not irritating, and the food was creative but not too fussy. I would like a better chocolate dessert option, but I guess some people are not chocolate freaks, as I am. Our room was spacious, had all the amenities we could need, and very quiet. This hotel is on the corner of Wabash and Randolph (might be Lake) so it a block west of Michigan Avenue, and easy walking distance to Symphony Hall, Millennium Paark (skating in winter, concerts in summer), the Art Institue, and all the wonderful shops on North Michigan Avenue. We always like Kimpton properties and The Hotel Monaco is no exception.

This was our second trip within a few months to the Monaco. It is a great boutique hotel with friendly staff and beautiful rooms. Perfect location, just below the river, a very short walk to Michigan Avenue, without the Michigan Avenue prices or crowds.

This was our first stay at the Monaco. We were impressed by the hotel. The staff were very helpful. Our room was on an upper floor. The view wasn't great, looking into another building, but then we didn't ask for a room with a view. The room was spacious for downtown Chicago. As Kimpton members the wi-fi was free and fast. The room was clean and well lite and the bathroom large. It is well located to go south to the Theater District or north to Michigan Avenue shopping. There is an "L" station just a block away for public transportation. Coffee, hot water, and hot chocolate are available in the morning. It would be nice if the hot chocolate was available in the evening as well. We'll stay again when we're in Chicago.

I just returned from a mini-vacation here with my girlfriend and we were both very impressed with the Monaco. We checked in during their "wine hour" and Foster helped get us each a glass of wine before we even had our room keys!

We had a river view room at it was very cool. They have window seats large enough to lay down in and they look right down the Chicago river. The bed was comfortable and we did not hear too much street noise.

The Monaco is located in the perfect spot. Even though it was a little chilly for us, we were able to walk to most of the restaurants/stores we wanted to visit.

Rich the concierge helped us navigate our way through Chicago. He sent us to Lou Malnati's for some deep dish pizza and and amazing Italian dinner at La Scarola (that review is coming up next). Nick at the front desk was also able to help me find a liquor store and all the bellman were very friendly!

We are planning on making a return trip to Chicago this summer and we are definitely staying at the Monaco!
