“Anniversary Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We stayed at the Hotel Monaco Chicago during our recent anniversary trip. Our stay was perfect with a friendly, helpful and welcoming staff and beautiful accommodations. We stayed in a spacious river-view king (Rm 912) that had a large window set into a nook (a great place for reading or just watching the world go by), a large TV and comfortable bed with plenty of pillow choices. I recommend taking the CTA train into town from O'Hare (for $2.25 each rider) because the hotel is only a short distance (3 or 4 blocks) from the Clark/Lake CTA station. The hotel is perfectly located if you prefer walking to taking a taxi, only minutes away from Millenium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Lyric Opera at the Civic Opera House and plenty of great restaurants, like Trattoria No. 10 on North Dearborn. I recommend joining the Kimpton In Touch program for the best prices (they have a low AAA price) and a complimentary $10 access to the well-stocked minibar. We have stayed in Kimpton Hotels in New York, Denver and have a trip planned to San Francisco, and we have never been disappointed.

Room Tip: Get a river-view room.

What a great review! Thank you! Yes! The location for people who are happy to walk or use public transportation is very good. You are certainly right about the Kimpton InTouch benefits, and there's more too- like free wifi, and earning free nights in hotels of ours. I'm glad you enjoy our culture of genuine care and a welcoming atmosphere.
Cheers,

I planned my husband's 50th BD in Chicago because it's a city we love to party and play in. Finding a hotel was easy...the Hotel Monaco is beautiful, great location, wonderful customer services...I will ALWAYS stay at this hotel with visiting Chicago.

Room Tip: The King Room River view is a beautiful and affordable choice...worth it.

This place is a crown jewel of Chicago hotels. Fabulous location, hip, elegant decor, bedrooms and bathrooms with a cozy urban feel but not too small, perfect bedding. Love the wine hour. The whole experience makes you feel like a native Chicagoan at a place you'd love to call home.

Room Tip: The concierge will help you get a reservation at popular restaurants before you arrive, even a month...

This hotel is a pleasant suprise. It is in the heart of Chicago with places to go and things to do all around the hotel. When I pulled up I was a little worried because like most I am used to this giant freestanding building shiny and new....This is not but it really has character on the outside. Once I walked in the door I was immediately impressed by the property but also by the staff. They are well trained to be friendly (almost as friendly as us Texans) and will bend over backwards to make your stay great. The rooms are great and super clean and extremely quiet. The bar is great and they do the greatest pizza in a real woodburning oven. I cannot say enough about Hotel Monaco. The price was right and I felt at home. Truly an excellent experience and will stay here next time.
One more thing, it is equally close in my opinion to either airport and about 2.5 miles to the convention center. We had 6 rooms here for a convention and it was as close to the convention center as the ones the convention center recommended.
Give this place a try.

To our friendly guests from Texas, thank you so much for staying with us and for your five star review! That is fantastic that you walked through our doors and felt impressed immediately by our staff and by the Monaco's unique charm. It's also great to hear you loved the flatbreads from South Water Kitchen. We really appreciate you and your peers staying here for the convention, and we thank you for sharing your great experience.

Stayed for an exhibition at McCormick Place. The location a block from Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River is fantastic.
Modern style room with nice linens, etc. Close enough to run by the lake and one of our party used the gym and liked it.

Room Tip: Got a good deal through Amex Travel

We're glad you enjoyed your stay while heading to the convention center. Our location is really awesome. With Michigan Ave and all the arts just a brief stroll away, we've really got access to it all. In the warmer weather we do morning team runs which are really a nice way to get healthy and meet other hotel guests, as well as staff.
Thanks for sharing your experience, we look forward to having you back.

On a recent trip to Chicago for the Barbra Streisand concert - my son treated me to a room at Hotel Monaco. Our stay was magnificent!! Our room was spotless, very quiet and comfortable. The view of the river and the fabulous Trump Tower was breathtaking. I LOVED the "cushioned" window seats where I sat and took picture of the river traffic and sights of the city. We dined twice in the hotel's wonderful restaurant where the service was second to none and the food very tasty. The evening wine party was delightful and the doormen were all extremely accomodating. I highly recommend Hotel Monaco on your next visit to Chicago!!

Room Tip: The evening wine tasting event was such a delightful experience with great music and great conversat...

What a lovely gift from your son! It sounds like you were in one of our River View upgrade rooms that have the much loved window seat and offer excellent city watching and relaxation opportunities. I bet you had a lovely time at the Streisand show, and spending time with your son.
Thanks for sharing your five star review!

Friendly, smaller hotel with great rooms (ask for views of the Chicago River) and great service! Stayed for two nights with 8 friends and the Hotel Monaco came through with everything we asked for! Great location - go north for shopping, south for museums etc. Rode the Blue Line from O'Hare and walked the 3 short blocks to the hotel. Will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Pay a little more for the Chicago River view rooms!
