“Best Hampton I have stayed at”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013 via mobile

As a diamond member, and a frequent Hampton client, this was the nicest and by far the most hospitable Hampton I have stayed at in the country. The employees especially made the experience most memorable. From the first point of contact ( lost in downtown) the manager on duty was patient and efficient in guiding us to the location. Valet was extremely polite and prompt in delivering our vehicle. The remaining staff continually asking if we needed anything to make our experience better! Thank you to all for your hard work!

“Way above average Hampton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

I just returned from a work trip in Chicago and eager to give this Hampton a good review.
The entire staff was very friendly and seemingly enjoyed working there (kudos to the management team). One staff member was notably top-notch and should be a role model for all Hilton family front desk staff, her name is Yanelli (sorry if I spelled that wrong). I travel far too much and 95% of my stays are in the Hilton family, but I was blown away on how great a representative Yannelli is of the Hilton brand of hospitality. Next time I am in Chicago, no questions, this is where I'll stay.

“Good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 16, 2013

This is a slightly above average chain hotel in downtown Chicago. The location is within walking distance to many fine restaurants and shopping as well as the typical tourist areas of downtown. The staff was almost overly friendly to the point of obnoxious. The rooms have flat screen TV's with a limited cable channel line up. The breakfast was pretty standard- eggs, potatoes, cereal, yogurt etc...There are no good views from even the upper floors. If you're looking for a VIEW this is not your hotel, otherwise go ahead and book it!!!!

Room Tip: Don't bother asking for a high floor thinking you might have a good view. Go for a low floor so...

“Great service, but bring your ear plugs!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

I can't say enough nice things about staff at the Hampton Inn and Suites. From Housekeeping and Maintenance to Front Desk, they were friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is very large, which is a rarity in most 'complimentary breakfast' hotels, and they'll still hand you a grab and go bag if you don't want to take the time to 'eat in', or have an early flight, etc.
We had a corner suite which was very spacious and bright. Two doubles in the bedroom with a real door on the bath side and closing panels on the other were perfect for my teenage daughters. I had the uncomfortable sofa bed (but aren't they all?!) but since I get up (way) earlier in the morning, I also had the kitchenette and coffee pot. A note about the kitchen, it does NOT have an oven (as we assumed 'full kitchen' meant and brought frozen pizzas. Another note: frozen pizzas don't work in the microwave.
Except for the fire station and its 24/7 mega-decibel sirens the location is great; at the edge of River North, it's just a few blocks to Mag Mile, and an easy taxi ride to the aquarium, show in Lincoln Park, or Navy Pier. There is a 7-11 at the corner of State and W. Illinois with sandwiches and drinks and other staples for your suite.
You might be able to ask for a quieter suite. We were 7th floor, facing West Illinois. and those sirens were LOUD.
But again, the staff was terrific. My sofa bed frame was broken and wouldn't open on the first night, but maintenance came and worked on it within 5 minutes of calling. When the toilet stopped up (" slo flo" doesn't always flow up to the upper floors), maintenance was there again within 5 minutes and called for housekeeping to follow. All those windows made for a chilly room in January, and a call for a blanket had one in - I kid you not- less than two minutes.
Breakfast staff was friendly, and one morning a lady walked around with hot cinnamon buns from the oven.
Bring your ear plugs, and have a great time!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet side if there is one. The fire station next door is LOUD.

THANK YOU so much, asiapointriders, for sharing the experience of your recent stay with us here at the Hampton Inn & Suites earlier this month. We are so thrilled that you took time out from your busy schedule to write this awesome review.

I personally appreciate your thorough review. you surely covered all of the basics & I am sure that your review will be helpful to others (as I see that it has already been). We appreciate the reviews regarding our prompt & friendly service from all the departments that you encountered during your time with us. Our team always strives to give the service our guests expect & deserve.

I am saddened to hear that the fire station was a disturbance for you. While some guests are not generally disturbed by the noise, we do realize that each person has their own sensitivity to it. All of our spacious corner suites are located on the Dearborn side of the hotel which faces the fire station, so perhaps in the future a higher floor may be better for you. Otherwise, we do have other suites available as well. However, for those light sleepers or to those not accustomed to the constant hustle & bustle of our dense urban downtown area, we do offer earplugs at the front desk.

We look forward to having you back with us at the Hampton on your next trip to Chicago.

“Excellent for families”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

We just spent six days in Chicago and had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Our kids loved the place and had plenty of room to move around in our large corner suite. Rooms and the rest of the hotel were very clean. Breakfast is standard Hampton Inn and Suites style, which works well for our large family. And it's free, which saves a lot of money especially in a big city. Pool was clean and well maintained. Location of the hotel is great for getting out and walking around downtown to find a place to eat at night or shop during the day. I think walking to the museums (The Field, Adler, Shedd) from the hotel would be fine if the weather is nice but it was too cold for us to do that. As others have mentioned before, the fire station across from the hotel is quite busy and the noise could be an issue for some. But it was also constant entertainment for our kids during our stay. We were on the 9th floor, which probably helps with the noise. I'd have to say that the best part of this place is the people working there. They are simply excellent. Always smiling, very helpful, and great with kids. Great service overall!

Room Tip: The corner suite is huge. Would definitely recommend it if you don't mind paying a little extra...
