I can't say enough nice things about staff at the Hampton Inn and Suites. From Housekeeping and Maintenance to Front Desk, they were friendly and helpful. The breakfast area is very large, which is a rarity in most 'complimentary breakfast' hotels, and they'll still hand you a grab and go bag if you don't want to take the time to 'eat in', or have an early flight, etc.
We had a corner suite which was very spacious and bright. Two doubles in the bedroom with a real door on the bath side and closing panels on the other were perfect for my teenage daughters. I had the uncomfortable sofa bed (but aren't they all?!) but since I get up (way) earlier in the morning, I also had the kitchenette and coffee pot. A note about the kitchen, it does NOT have an oven (as we assumed 'full kitchen' meant and brought frozen pizzas. Another note: frozen pizzas don't work in the microwave.
Except for the fire station and its 24/7 mega-decibel sirens the location is great; at the edge of River North, it's just a few blocks to Mag Mile, and an easy taxi ride to the aquarium, show in Lincoln Park, or Navy Pier. There is a 7-11 at the corner of State and W. Illinois with sandwiches and drinks and other staples for your suite.
You might be able to ask for a quieter suite. We were 7th floor, facing West Illinois. and those sirens were LOUD.
But again, the staff was terrific. My sofa bed frame was broken and wouldn't open on the first night, but maintenance came and worked on it within 5 minutes of calling. When the toilet stopped up (" slo flo" doesn't always flow up to the upper floors), maintenance was there again within 5 minutes and called for housekeeping to follow. All those windows made for a chilly room in January, and a call for a blanket had one in - I kid you not- less than two minutes.
Breakfast staff was friendly, and one morning a lady walked around with hot cinnamon buns from the oven.
Bring your ear plugs, and have a great time!
Room Tip: Ask for a quiet side if there is one. The fire station next door is LOUD.

THANK YOU so much, asiapointriders, for sharing the experience of your recent stay with us here at the Hampton Inn & Suites earlier this month. We are so thrilled that you took time out from your busy schedule to write this awesome review.
I personally appreciate your thorough review. you surely covered all of the basics & I am sure that your review will be helpful to others (as I see that it has already been). We appreciate the reviews regarding our prompt & friendly service from all the departments that you encountered during your time with us. Our team always strives to give the service our guests expect & deserve.
I am saddened to hear that the fire station was a disturbance for you. While some guests are not generally disturbed by the noise, we do realize that each person has their own sensitivity to it. All of our spacious corner suites are located on the Dearborn side of the hotel which faces the fire station, so perhaps in the future a higher floor may be better for you. Otherwise, we do have other suites available as well. However, for those light sleepers or to those not accustomed to the constant hustle & bustle of our dense urban downtown area, we do offer earplugs at the front desk.
We look forward to having you back with us at the Hampton on your next trip to Chicago.
All the best,
