Despite fabulously sunny weather and clear skies, there were no queues when I arrived at the Hancock at 9 am (opening time). The friendly staff were courteous and helpful. The elevator took seconds to make it to the 95th floor. The views were amazing and far better than those from the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. The audio guide was useful and never boring and picked out spots that I would otherwise have missed. There was also a reasonably priced cafe from which to enjoy the panorama. I went back the next day with colleagues (there is a special discount ticket which I would recommend) to watch the sunset. If you have limited time and can only visit one attraction and the skies are clear, make this top of your list.

We followed the advice of other TripAdvisor members and went up to the lounge for a bite instead of taking the tour. We had a limited amount of time, so we thought we would combine a late lunch while we took in the view. It was a mistake.

The lounge has some of the worst service that I have ever seen. First of all, we waited on line, while other people behind us in line were seated first. The host seemed more like a security guard or bouncer than a traditional host.

After waiting, we were shown to our seats, which were at a counter next to the window. One seat was in on the end and the window was slanted, obstructing half of the view. We were not given the option of waiting for a table or asked if we wanted to wait for better seats.

The counter was not clean, the dirty dishes from the previous patrons were left there and never cleaned up. Since we were not seated at the bar, we assumed a waitress would be coming to take our order. After waiting about 10 minutes, we went to the bar and were told that we would have to order there. We ordered a Pepsi, a hot chocolate and 2 orders of chicken quesadillas. We got our drinks right away and after about 10 minutes, a waiter came out with one order of quesadillas, a knife and no fork. At that point, we were so disgusted with it, we split the order with each other and just ate the quesadillas with our fingers.

we visited the obseravatory in the late afternoon and we able to see the sun set on chicago. It was fantastic! It has great views of the lake/waterfront , skyscapers, and the city. don't miss this attraction. it's amazing. we also think it has the best gift shop(street level) we could find on michigan ave. a must see! don't miss it.

The Hancock Observatory and Tower was a wonderful attraction to see. It is best to go on a decent day with some visibility.
You have to wait in line for a fair amount of time, before you get brought up to the top of the building. So it may not be a bad idea to try and research when the best times to go are where it's not so busy.
You get to listen to headphones during the tour, but i will keep it a secret on who is narrating the city and it's highlights for you.
I highly recommend going to see this. It is only a couple hours max!

This is a must-see. The views are spectacular. Watching the sun go down and the city lights appear is incredible. They now have a headphone/audio presentation which is interesting.
