What more can be said about a property that offers clean rooms, nice staff (Regina is great), free parking and good location at a great price. This was our first time staying and as an out of town patient at the University of Chicago it won't be my last. In fact, I've told everyone I can about this property and I've made my next 2 reservations.

Room Tip: The deluxe king room is very large room.

This hotel does the job if you're looking for an affordable hotel close to downtown. It isn't as nice as many others but it was clean and we used it for sleeping primarily. If you want upscale amenities this is not your place. The free parking with low nightly rates would be the number one reason for staying here.

My husband and I were looking for a night away from home and the Chicago South Loop Hotel was perfect for us. The hotel and our room were clean! The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We found a handful of restaurants that delivered to the hotel. The best part was the free parking that the hotel provided - this is INCREDIBLY difficult to find when looking for hotels in Chicago. We are likely to visit again for a quick inexpensive get away. Also, check Groupon for great deals to this hotel.

The GOOD - Regina and Latisha. Regina was at the front desk when I extended my stay for a day due to the airport being shut down in Denver because of snow. She was very nice and helpful and a whole 180 degrees from the front desk personnel who checked me in late Friday night/early Saturday morning. THAT person was very slow checking in guests (there were only 3 people in line); it took nearly 45 minutes to get check in, Latisha is the young lady who cleaned my room. She had a sunny disposition, she was quick, did a great job and also full of helpful hints about places I could go and see. I really liked her. The bar that they had was very good. Drinks were good, and the food was tasty. The BAD - the person who checked me in late Friday night and no microwave in room. The OK - The café was ok, but closes very early in the day around 1pm. The business center was ok, had free coffee and a small microwave in there. The salon was ok, a nice place to relax, get your hair done, facial, and massage. Overall, it was a good place to stay, you can catch the bus and go shopping and sightseeing or drive yourself around. Location was good. Not as luxury as some hotels on Lake Shore Drive, but comfortable and reasonable price

Room Tip: Top floor was very quiet; less noise. Like that there was a ice machine and sodas by the elevator.

Greetings 2sweet4me,
Thank you for the four star review. It is wonderful to hear about the exemplary service you received from Regina and Latisha. They are a great asset to our team! It seems that our friendly staff and bar cuisine and cocktails made a lasting impression. Our apologies for the slow check-in process you experienced. This will be addressed and will not go unnoticed. Thank you for taking the time to review our property and we hope to see you again!

First the positives. Fairly central location. Free parking on an adjacent surface lot which for near downtown Chicago is a great plus. Friendly staff. The woman at check-in could have used another person helping but overall check-in was smooth.

The lobby is nicely decorated. The upstairs hallways are pretty plain. I had no trouble or undue waits with the elevators. Overall cleanliness good although there were a few dings on the walls.

Spacious rooms with high ceilings. Comfortable beds. No problem regulating room temperature. Decent shower pressure.

So what was the problem. About 2 AM there were 20-30 people in the hallway shouting and laughing. I called the front desk who sent up security. The security guy yelled that everyone needed to get out of the hallway then left, leaving a bunch of people still in the hallway. The noise continued to go on for another couple of hours. I travel with a sound machine which I had going to cover up the noise plus I had the room fan running, but it was still pretty bad.

I debated what to put in this review. Overall it seems like a nice place with people that seem to be working to provide a good experience. Looking at other reviews it doesn't seem like my experience was a common one. On the other hand it was the worst night I spent in a hotel in 20 years. It's tough to say how much a hotel should be responsible for the misbehavior of its guests, but in this case the hotel was unable to deal with the problem.

Greetings GoatWhacker,
Thank you for your review. It is nice to hear you found our staff friendly, complimentary parking of value and enjoyed our lobby decor. It is disappointing to hear of the noise pollution you experienced in the hallways of your floor during your visit with us. Our security staff is not trained to handle a situation the way you explained. It is not acceptable for our security to yell at anyone on our premises at any time. We assure you this is not our norm and this incident will be discussed with security and management. Hopefully, this will not deter you from visiting us in the future. Your comments will be addressed and will not go unnoticed. Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Friendly professional staff. On arrival was greeted by front desk and given a free room upgrade. Good recommendations on area restaurants. Big, clean rooms and quiet. Ice bucket and cups should be placed on table top or higher and not on the bottom shelf of a nightstand where dust and foot traffic is close---but otherwise nice clean place to stay. Definitely worth a return visit if in the Chicago area. Free parking in lots adjoining the hotel. Short drive from Chicago Midway International Airport.

We chose this hotel due to the location being close to where our event was taking place. It was mediocre and did not offer any extra or exciting amenities. It was so so and my husband and I will probably not stay here again unless location is what we are looking for.
