Owner description: Chicago's breath-taking National Landmark Theatre hosts concerts, comedians, theatrical productions and special events every year. The 3,600 seat auditorium is seven stories high, and the vertical "C-H-I-C-A-G-O," sign is one of the few such signs in existence today. A symbol of State Street and Chicago, the marquee is a landmark in itself, as is the Wurlitzer pipe organ. Patrons can also go behind-the-scenes on their educational venue tour, which runs a few times a week.

“Beautiful Old Movie Theatre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2013

Lovingly restored, it now serves as a concert venue and is one of the most beautiful theaters of this era. You just can't imagine the craftsmanship that went into everything from the coffered plaster ceilings to the marble balustrade in the entry way to the stain glass windows and on and on... The tour covers a lot of history and is very well done. Definitely worth your time if you are in the neighborhood.

We saw a concert at this theater and were pleased with the seating and acoustics. Not a bad seat in the theater.

“Tour of a classic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2013

We were staying in Chicago for our honeymoon and realized we were just across the river from this landmark. We caught an early tour on a weekday. The tour guide was very good. There were old pictures to allow us to compare what we were seeing with how it had originally looked. We went everywhere. Up on stage, through the dressing rooms to see the signatures and into the coveted Gallery seats that are the favorites for obvious reasons! We learned the history of the paintings that are seen throughout the theatre as well as stories of the originals. It was a great tour of a fantastic facility. I know I'll be watching for a show to go to!
