“Incredible -- if you're in Chicago, don't miss it!”

You could spend an entire day here, but if you don't have that much time, they make it so easy to just see what you want to see. The staff is super friendly and can tell you where exactly certain works of art are located. Whether you're an art fan or not, there is something here for everyone -- original paintings of images we see every day are here. Such a great treasure for Chicago to have!

“Sensory Overload”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2007

I'm used to the wonderful Philadelphia Museum of
Art, but I found this outstanding museum its equal if not its better, in some ways. We only had a few hours to spend here, so we chose to focus on the impressionists, which are well-represented. For most of the works you can get up real close and personal and study the brush strokes. Or you can sit on one of the benches and go into sensory overload. They are doing a fair amount of renovating and building at the museum and some rooms are closed. But if you just want to hit the highlights, it's easy to do. As is true of all great art museums, one could spend a year and not see it all. Definitely a worthwhile stop on any visit to Chicago.

“Great City Museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2007

I visited this museum this past Saturday afternoon. I could have easily spent many more hours there - it's impossible to see everything they have in just a couple of hours. The "ask me" desk was very helpful and suggested a few places that were "must-sees." Among the suggestions was the impressionist and post-impressionist exhibits. They have a great collection of Monets, Renoirs, Van Goghs, etc. They also have some Picassos which were really cool. We stumbled on the Thorne Miniature rooms which were incredible. This exhibit is so unique, I would recommend that everyone check that one out, because I don't know of any other museum that has an exhibit like it. All in all, a great museum.

“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2007

One of the U.S. greatest art museums (biased view). Take your time to stroll thru it's many illustrious collections. Great location for parking all day and walking to Millenium Park and other locales and restaurants as well. Small but enjoyable architecture museum somewhere across the street as well!
