I knew I was taking a gamble booking this room. It was tolerable, but barely. The bathroom was gross. It looked like it hadn't been swept, let alone mopped, in weeks. There were ants and spiders in the bathroom as well as in the bedroom (I saw an ant on one of the beds). The shower was dirty, hair left over from previous guests. We were on the first floor, and could hear the people walking around above us. The breakfast was typical skimpy continental breakfast.

However, the air conditioner did work very well, and cooling was not a problem. And the people at the front desk were nice, and even helped me out by making a few xeroxes for me.

I was desperate for a room in Champaign this weekend (5-3-08) and booked the only room I could find, and specifically requested a non-smoking room since I have respiratory problems.
First, the young gentlemen smoking in the parking lot, hanging out in their pickup trucks, was not a good sign. Then I was told that the only room available was a smoking room, which I told the young lady would not do. She insisted that I only requested a nonsmoking room, but I told her that it was not a request, and that we needed a nonsmoking room. She told me to come back in an hour and she'd see what she could do. We came back and she was able to find us a nonsmoking room.
Well, the room is another story. We stayed in Room 212 and it was gross. The tub was full of mildew, the towels all felt like sandpaper, and when I went to turn on the air conditioner, the door to the unit fell off, and the dials were rusted and unreadable.
i went to plug in my phone charger by the nightstand and found a beer poptop under the nightstand and the walls were streaked with a brown substance, which looked like nicotine (Perhaps the room was a nonsmoking room at one time, but it was really gross). The sheets were pink and threadbare. The pillows had seen better days, too. The beds were okay.
I know that people have given this place a good rating, and that is the only reason I booked a room there. I would have slept in the car, but the women at the front desk said that no refund was possible.
Stay away, especially people who are accustomed to staying in clean hotels.

I have stayed at this hotel many times during 2007. The rooms are neat, clean and comfortable. I have always been treated in a friendly, courteous, professional manner. The innkeepers are nice people and the staff immediately takes care of any need. I would highly recommend a stay here for business or pleasure. Bernie H.

I have stayed at the Super 8 near the Marketplace Mall off Neil St. approximately 20 weekends a year for five or six years. The owners, Harish and Ila, are not only excellent property owners, but make a strong effort to become friends with their regular customers. Since I am reimbursed for my hotel stays when I'm out of town, I could stay at Holiday Inn or Marriott, but I choose to stay at this particular Super 8, because it is impecably clean, quiet, with an excellent continental breakfast. Each time I arrive, I am welcomed by either Harish or Ila, and made to feel very much at home. There is one particular room that I enjoy staying in, and it is always waiting for me when I arrive. This particular Super 8 property is absolutely excellent, and I have stayed at many Super 8s across the country over the years. I offer this property and its owners my very highest recommendation, and I will continue to stay there for years to come. Dr. Roger Whitlow.
