You get what you pay for! I was mislead by some of the reviews of this place. This was the first time in my life, that upon opening the mini fridge, I was greeted by a pound of slimy "green" cold cuts, a sticky almost empty jar of grape jelly, and worst of all, a nasty, sticky opened jar of mayonnaise. My friend and I almost threw up, as we gingerly disposed of our "surprises".
Controls on the heater/ac were so old, we could barely turn them to get some fresh air into the room. Some "suspect-looking" people in the parking lot, and in the breakfast area gave us the "willies". "Free" breakfast was the worst I've ever seen in a motel---and I'm sure it was included in the price.
I've stayed at many a nice Super 8 in the past 20 years (see my review on the Rhinelander, WI Super 8), and have never encountered one as bad as this one. Even from the outside, it gives off some bad vibes.
Couldn't wait to check out. Other reviewers talked about the nice lady at the front desk---she must have taken the day off when we were there.
We're coming back again to Champaign in July---guess where we won't be staying?
