“Tom Yum Noodle soup best in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

Basil Thai cafe on the campus of the University of Illinois has the most delicious Tom Yum Noodle soup, which is not available anywhere else in town. Every other dish that I have tried at Basil Thai have also been excellent. Get there early during the school year because the line gets very long at noon!

The place is good. The food is very delicious and the service is not bad. The waiters do not take orders at your table but at least they will bring the food to your table! That's a plus but I feel that the place is a bit overpriced.

“Best Basil Fried Rice in town!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2011

This was once my favorite Thai place. In terms of taste, it still is, but the prices have climbed up over the years and their portions have shrunk. Basil Fried rice with beef, Tom Yum Noodle Soup spicy, Basil Chicken (ask for ground chicken), and Pad Kee Mao are still one of the best I've had in the whole world. (but I've never been to Thailand) :)

It's not fancy, but it's good and it's fast. My first (not counting the awful Big Bowl) and maybe best Thai experience to date.
