“OK Hotel, doesnt feel like a Country Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

PROPERTY: I stayed at this property in room 332 for 1 night while in Chicago on business. This property is undergoing some renovations which it needs. I was told it’s under new ownership/management. At this point, it doesn’t feel like a CI&S. It feels more like a Quality Inn which is not exactly a complement.

The hotel had a pool and whirlpool which I did not use as the pool area was closed when I arrived but opened at 5:00.

DINING: I left to catch my flight at 5:00 am before breakfast was available.

ROOM: The room was clean but the décor was uninspiring. The room felt smaller than usual and lacked a micro/fridge combo found in similar properties. A coffee maker is provided. The room had light road noise from street traffic and light-moderate airplane noise. The furniture was in good condition and had a 25” tube TV.

The bathroom was large and well lit with tub/shower combo and large countertops made of bland colored cultured marble. The bathroom was clean.

BEDDING: The bed was very good with EXCELLENT pillows. Unfortunately the bedding was cheap, with thinner sheets and outdated velour blankets.

WORK AREA: The work table is good size and the chair was OK. There is only one unused electrical outlet provided for powering electronics. Poor-mediocre lighting throughout room.

The staff was friendly.

PROS: price. Fairly clean
CONS: no micro/fridge, dated atmosphere, nothing special, not a classic CI&S property.

RATING: I expected better. Overall I would give the property a 75/100 and 80/100 for value. I would consider staying here again, but would definitely look at other properties nearby.

The hotel itself was fine, what we expected. We stayed the night just to do park and fly out of O"hare. We set up the shuttle for the next morning and filled out paperwork for our return shuttle too. The desk worker said we would need to call when we got in, and that it may be 15-30 minutes.

The morning shuttle to the airport left right on time. The return trip, not so good. We arrived and went through customs. At 7:15 pm I called about the shuttle and was told he only leaves on the hour so he would leave at 8:00. We had never been told that and I don't see the point in calling for pick-up if they only leave on the hour. I said OK and we sat and waited. At 8:00 we went outside and proceeded to wait 30 more minutes. We watched everyone from our flight, plus many other flights, get picked up, including several cycles of the same hotel shuttle coming there and back. At 8:30 I called again and she said he had left at 8 so should be there soon. At 8:35 our shuttle finally arrived, with just one other couple on board.

I have no idea why a hotel that advertises 24 hour shuttle service would require their customer to wait almost 1.5 hours to get a shuttle. For our next trip out of o'hare we will definitely pick a different hotel.

We stayed here for a night before our plane from OHare, it was a good deal that included park and fly with a shuttle to and from the Airport. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were clean. We had an issue with the heater/ac/fan but they made an adjustment in our bill to compensate for our inconvenience. The breakfast was ok

We did a park and fly and stayed for one night. Our first room was on the smoking floor and had a dismantled smoke alarm. We were moved to another room on the first floor. Better, but lots of broken stuff. There was an outlet that was dangerously broken, some bathroom tiles and brojen door lock on the bathroom. No breakfast because we left the hotel too early which was disappointing. Overall it was a good inexpensive 8 hr stay, but grungy and needs repair.

Ok it's not a Hilton, but for the price it's fine. I'm a pretty loyal Carlson customer - and this is about average for their Country Inn's. Service was fine- I needed to check out a day early and had no issues. Got my bill for what i expected. The breakfast is typical. Only thing leading to a 4 star for me is their doing a remodel. 1st night the paint fumes were horrible - note to staff - open some windows to vent out the place. Other than that issue the stay was fine - room was clean - staff were pleasant.

Room Tip: Avoid the 3rd floor - remember this is just south of O'Hare - even with noise abatement you will...

Perfect for the overnight stay in O'Hare area - it takes ~15 mins to get there. Hotel is quite small, so transfer must be booked in advance and runs only between 7AM till 10PM if I remember correctly, so if you're leaving in the morning, or arriving late you must put additional $20 on top to get there and it's better to look for something located more conviniently. There are no shops in the area, so again you need to take a cab - walking to the nearest shopping area isn't a good idea - you must walk along quite busy road. Hotel itself is very clean, well maintained, rooms are tidy and quite cosy. Breakfast is quite ok. Definitely is very fair value for the money.

I previously had a great experience at another Country Inn & Suites, so I had high expectations. If you only need a place to sleep, this room is fine.

Here are some things I thought were good.

1. Free hot breakfast with waffles, sausage links, oatmeal, and hardboiled eggs, plus the usual bagels, toast, muffins, and cereal.
2. Clean room.
3. Free shuttle to and from the airport.

Below are the things I found slightly annoying.

1. The Internet would cut out or work very slowly.
2. The TV remote didn't work with the TV.
3. The walls were thin.
4. Many times, no one was at the front desk.
5. The hotel claims to have a gym, but really it is a tiny room with 2 treadmills and nothing else.

Bottom line: If you need a cheap hotel near the airport, this is a decent option. If you are a frequent business traveler, this hotel probably will not live up to your expectations.
