Have eaten here twice over the last few weeks and would have graded this place higher except the last meal I had here was a little off. My wife and family however enjoyed their meal very much.
The service here is very good, attentive and friendly without hovering over the table. The food is upscale for a bar and grill, I would say it is firmly in the wheelhouse of "Gastropub" fare.
I had the lamb and beef meatloaf it was a bit dry, I think that the chef was trying to keep it healthy and removed a lot of the fat from the ingredients, While there were vegtables in the meatloaf, it still was not enough moisture. There was not a lot of gravy served with this so that didn't help either,,but whats the use of trying to make the dish low fat if you slather it with gravy? I could see what they were attempting, but it fell short of the mark. The mashed potatos that were served with it were not actually mashed potatoes, rather they were smashed potatos with the skins left on and crushed rather than whipped as in true mashed potatos. Again there wasn't a lot of fat in them so the potatos were dry and without a whole lot of flavor. Also the potatos slightly underdone and had a mealy texture.
But don't judge this place based only on the meatloaf, I had their soups and they are excellent! Also my son said the burger he had was one of the best he had ever eaten. They were very accomidating to my daughter special dietary needs and my wife liked her meal very much. So The Tavern on Main is definately worth a visit.
