I had the unfortunate event of booking a non-smoking room with 2-queen beds in this hotel. It was advertised as being close to the Belle-Clair fairgrounds & expo center on South Belt Drive in Belleville. It advertised both an indoor and an outdoor pools, jacuzzi suites and an in-house restaraunt. The outdoor pool was green with algae, the indoor was closed and I didn't look for the jacuzzi...
Here's what I found...
The hotel parking lot in a bad way, pot-holes and a really rough surface which really shook the vehicle I was driving from side to side. The building had obvious structural problems with algae growing under the room window a/c units and guttering hanging from several spots. The windows on the second floor also had cardboard over some of them and you could see curtains hanging-as if they had been partially torn down in more of the windows. I could not drive my truck through the circle drive due to a broken-down pickup in the path (there wwere several other broked down vehicles in the rear of the building), so I had to park at the end of the building and walk past the bar to get to the lobby (it is very difficult for a handicapped person to navigate). The window a/c unit from the bar smelled of vomit.
After waiting for a hotel clerk that spoke english (approx 10 minutes), I got a key and said I wanted to check the room first. The key did not work at first in the door, and the entire wall moved when I tried to turn the knob. The room smelled musty and as if it had been flooded. I turned on the a/c unit and immediately turned it back off. This was definitely NOT a non-smoking room. When I checked the bathroom I found mold and mildew in the tub and dead bugs all over the floor. No stopper in the sink or tub and black mold on the shower sheet. There were also no towels or toilet paper. I then pulled the covers and top sheet back on one of the beds. The LIVE roaches and bugs literally scurried from the bed. Yes, they were under and in the bed. Needless to say I did not stay there and Strongly recommend that anyone go anywhere but there to stay.
