My family & I have just returned to the UK from having a fantastic, unforgetable experience during our stay in Thala. From the time the stretch limo collected us from Cairns airport to leaving we loved
every aspect that this hotel offered. The friendy professional staff could not do enough to make our stay special, the food was orgasmic and the stunning scenery well what can i say - The private secluded sandy beaches are the perfert spot to relax and enjoy the sun drenched beauty of this unspoilt tropical paradise. The rooms are so spectaculary different built on stilts right in the rainforest, very clean and spacious. A truly unforgettable experience. We will return.

From the moment you arrive at Thala's reception area and are greated with a welcome cocktail you know it's special. The open air restaurant and bar set high up in the top of the eucalyptus trees has the most amazing views over their private beaches and forest - stunning. We stayed at Thala for 5 nights and had just come from their sister hotel - Kewarra Beach in Palm Cove and we thought this was the best until we arrived at Thala. It has been so well laid out with 2 small but lovely pools - although these were a little chilly! The beach is just as nature intended - not tampered with in any way we spent a couple of days just collecting shells and driftwood and knocking coconuts out of the tree for a snack - real robinson crusoe!
I spent a lot of time researching where to stay in Port Douglas and we werent disappointed with our choice - the only thing you have to bear in mind is that it is about a 15 minute drive out of the town but they do run shuttle buses or you could hire a car if you really want to leave. The other thing that is fab is the food in the restaurant - definately some of the best food we have had.

We have just returned from Aus, and during the trip we stayed for 4 nights at the Thala and I have to say the hotel was great. The service was very efficient and friendly, trips and pick ups were organised with no problems, the site and views are spectacular, and overal location great. All bungalows are in the forest, so a very special feel, no facilities for kids, so really a couples resort, particularly for honeymooners.
Would advise to hire a car, as although there are shuttle services to Port Douglas, and Cairns, the car gives you a lot more freedom.
Only negative was the pool was small and only for lazing, but then again it does have a private beach so do you really need a pool.
So, overall a really great experience,

My new husband and I decided to stay here at the last minute after another hotel canceled on us. Thala Beach Resort was the highlight of our lodging experience in Australia. The private bungalos are marvelous, we overlooked the ocean and couldn't see anyone from our deck. The food at the restaurant is fabulous, the best meals we had in AUS. I would highly recommend doing the dinner in your room, it is delicious and private. Thala Beach is dreamy!!!
