We visited Idaho Joes's on a Sunday evening. We were tired and hungry. We read that this is a locals place more known for its breakfast and pies. I asked if the burgers could be ordered rare. The server said I could have whatever temperature I wanted. I ordered the pepper jack burger. It came very quickly and I could tell the cook tried to get it rare because the cheese wasn't totally melted. These are those premade burger patties that are so thin that it's virtually impossible to cook it rare. It was a good effort and the seasoning of the patty was spot on. The side salad was ordinary, but fresh. Dressing was in a little plastic cup. Nothing special. Hubby had the Beefeater Steak Sandwich. He wasn't very impressed. The beef was straight from the deli counter and the bread was soggy. The side vegetable beef soup was tasty, but long on vegetables and short on beef. The service was actually very good. She got the order right and the food was delivered quickly. She asked about the burger and I refused a redo because I don't think they could do any better with that kind of patty. Interior was dated but clean. So, they're getting some things right, but didn't hit it out of the park. Oh, BTW, someone should tell the cook that key lime pie isn't green.
