“Scenic, Rustic, Beautiful”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Stayed in a cabin at Redfish Lake. They are everything you would expect and hope for staying in a National Forest on a beautiful lake. The staff were very accommodating. If you are in the Stanley area and have a chance to stay at Redfish Lake Lodge you should. You and your family will enjoy it.

The lodge is a fun, kitschy place with log cabins, a general store (not only the best souvenir shopping around but good emergency toiletry stuff as well) and a gorgeous mountain-studded, crystal clear lake. We were in Rustic Cabin #2 which is close to the lodge, very convenient. It has an original fireplace and totally appropriate mountain themed bedding. The bathroom seemed brand new and everything is clean and super comfortable. If you didn’t unwind and relax enough on the way up, this place will do it. There’s a fridge in the room, shampoo, soap and cups are supplied. I didn’t see a hair dryer but I was committed to not using one during the trip so it might have been in a drawer, you should ask if it’s important to you. There was live music and lots of kids playing on the front lawn when we arrived (largest crowds of the trip are right here). We were told this is a local hangout on summer weekends and also learned it’s a fave spot for those who return to the Lodge year after year (a good sign). We walked around the lake a bit (beautifully peaceful, lots of camp sites, fabulous lake views) and then went for dinner. The menu is super creative and the food is beautifully plus they have a really nice selection of local brews on tap. The service is spectacular. The only thing you don’t see in any of the website photos are the cars which are right in front of the cabins. At first it’s a touch off-putting because you think the cabins are so much more remote than they actually are but then you realize of course the cars have to be parked somewhere. Also, the lodge is so much closer to the lake than I had pictured it (convenient) and there are a lot more people on the lawn, the beach and in the water than any photo online. Still very beautiful though and perhaps not everyone is looking for or expecting it to be as remote as I had envisioned. Everyone looked like they were truly having the time of their lives and it didn’t take long to get away from it all, a few minute walk and you felt almost alone again. The next day we woke up early and saw mist rolling across the lake, a site I’d never seen before and it was beautiful. The docks glittered with ice crystals as the sun rose. This time there was nobody around. A nice hearty breakfast at the Lodge completed the morning and then our trip continued.

We booked a cabin the first weekend they opened. The cabin was mostly clean (they forgot to dust off some higher places after the winter). Bathroom was fine, no issues with hot water....a bit of a spider infestation but I guess that's expected in a cabin. Our cabin (rustic 2) had a beautiful huge fireplace. The only thing was that the glass in the fireplace door was loose and we had to lean the fire poker against it to make sure it stayed closed and the smoke did not come in the room.
Wood, newspaper, and matches were provided. We loved our breakfasts at the lodge - simply delicious. The staff was very friendly - some still a bit not sure about what to do as it was really the first weekend they were opened. Dinner prices are a bit too high for us but if you are used to eating lightly their salads are reasonably priced and delicious.
We will definitely return.

Stayed for a Family Reunion, gave plenty of options for lower budget RV parking or higher end cabins for every family budget. Plenty of activities for hiking, lake fun or just hanging out.

Because our cabin was so nice I forgot this was not a hotel but "camping" and did not bring my own hairdyer....yes hairdryer.. bring your own if you are not a big "camper".

Don't forget to tip the staff cleaning your cabin just like you would a hotel.

Great location.. amazingly beautiful.

Room Tip: there is a wedding tent so when choosing your cabin consider how much you want to hear the late nigh...

I had a great time at Redfish. The cabins were a great fit for the environment. They looked like classic rustic structures but were clean, comfortable, and well equipped inside.

The amenities at the lodge were great. I had fun canoeing, paddle-boarding, and hanging out on the beach. The views are beautiful and it is fun to feel like you're really in the outdoors and away from civilization.

I'm already thinking about planning another trip here.

Room Tip: We had lakeside and creekside cabins and enjoyed them.

Redfish Lake Lodge has a great location and is quite far away from any cities or towns. It was a great way to experience nature without leaving behind the comforts of home. There was a bathroom with a shower as well as a kitchen with a dishwasher in my Creekside cabin. The bed was very comfortable as well. I greatly enjoyed my time in my cabin, and the views outside were quite spectacular.

We traveled here for a company retreat. The lake is beautiful and crystal clear. There's a sandy lake front area, plenty of boats, kayaks, paddle boards, paddle boats to rent. There are many trails and hikes to explore. They have mountain bikes for rental. There is little to no light pollution which allows for a breathtaking view of the stars. The cabins are really nice and are operate as a full hotel service (air conditioned, kitchen, dining room, tiled bathrooms, comfortable beds). This place is great for large group gatherings.
