“Outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

This was our first time visiting Redfish. We stayed in deluxe cabin #31. We absolutely loved it. It was a bit noisy (the beds were extremely squeeky). That made it hard with our two small children but still we enjoyed our visit so much. We spent a lot of time out on the front porch playing games and hanging out. We needed more chairs so our husband went down to the front desk and asked and before he even made it back to a cabin a man in a truck pulled up to our cabin with extra chairs! Such great service there. And all the guests were so nice. Everyone was just so happy! How could you not be?! We rented bikes and a bike trailer and rode all around the lake with the kids. It was just amazing! The only other negative would be the food situation. There aren't many cabins that have a kitchen so you are kind of forced to eat redfish lodge food. The lodge was quite expensive and the food was fresh, but not out of this world. The service was really slow too. The little shack in front of the lodge was OK, less expensive. Wish there were so more options for eating there...but even so...we had a wonderful experience and plan to make it a yearly family adventure!

This review is for the lodge and lodge area. Not the cabins (which looked to be great.) We stayed in the lodge (July 13, 2013) and it was just fine for a night (as opposed to some of the negative reviews here.) We’ve stayed in other rustic lodges (Yellowstone, etc.) and knew what to expect. Your expectations should be met knowing: It is a rustic lodge where you will be using communal (Mens/Womens separate) showers & commodes. You will be staying above a working restaurant and bar. Whether you face the lake or rear of the lodge you are going to be located at the hub of Redfish Lake activity, so expect people making a lot of noise, maybe a wedding reception with reception music blasting, cars, boats, and partiers. There is no air conditioning in the lodge (2nd floor at least) or in the rooms. It cooled off enough in the evening for the window fan in the room to cool the room comfortably. The heat was stifling in the hallway outside our room. The room was basic with a king or queen bed that filled up about 80% of the room. Also in the room, there was a sink along the wall and a bench seat along the wall with the windows. It is not the type of room in which you’ll want to do much more than sleep. The good news on that front is that in this beautiful area you’ll want to spend most of your time outside and use the room to crash at the end of a busy day playing in the Sawtooth mountain range. Keep in mind my Trip Advisor rating is not a 4 star, but four dots meaning “very good.”
The lodge is lakefront to Redfish, with boat docks, a nice beach area, and water toy rentals (paddleboards, paddleboats, etc.) plus lots of short or extreme hiking available. There is a small ($$$) general store on site and Stanley is close for other food and grocery options. I don’t think I would be likely to stay at the lodge more than a couple days just because the quaintness and other people’s revelry would start to wear a bit thin. That said, I will definitely stay here again when I want to visit the Stanley / Red Fish / Sawtooth area.

We've gone here for the last 9 consecutive summers, staying in the Honeymooon Cabin with our family of four...obviously not using the cabin for its namesake. We love this spot. The lake is gorgeous, clear cold waters with sandy beaches. The outdoor activities abound, hiking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, biking etc. The lodge and resort have a charming old-fashioned feel. The owners are a great family and many staff members return each season. The restaurant is good, sometimes a bit inconsistent and not always a great value, but friendly service and the best food in the area. The bar is fun and tended by two excellent hands who have been there for years. I keep thinking our kids (now 12 and 14) will outgrow this spot or we will tire of it, but we're booking next year.

Room Tip: All cabins have their individual charm. We love the Honeymoon Cabin.

Our family (3 girls which over years have spanned 3 yrs to 15 yrs) has enjoyed annual trips to this place. It is one of the best locations we have camped adn offer experiences from tent to camper to RV to lodge in close proximity.

The lodge and activities associated with it are awesome. I feel like I am in an old Cary Grant movie. The social bar had great setting/draft beer/food for all ages.

I can't wait to return

red fish lake is a scenic place to visit. the lodge prices were to expensive for the dishes sold. the mark up was to0 much catering to the wealthier class. i want more value for my money. the restaurant overlooks the sawtooth mountains. the food variety is fancy but not that great in taste and value.

We spent Memorial Day weekend at Redfish and participated in their Memorial Run 10k. We had a nice little cabin, very clean, cute, warm and cozy. The staff goes out of their way to be welcoming and helpful in every way. The views are incredible, the lodge is great, and a big shout out to Trey and Jen in the lounge-you guys are awesome! I told my husband we will have to make this a yearly tradition, I had never been here before but now I can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We stayed in a stand alone cabin but I have heard that the side by side cabins can be quite noisy if...
