I've stayed at the Stagecoagh in twice, once in the summer of 2005 and again for one night in the summer of 2006. It was pretty standard for an old hotel. The room was adequate and clean. The best features were really cool A/C and the fact that you are right next to the beautiful Salmon River.

I highly recommend going on a multi-day rafting trip down the Salmon River (I've done the Main Salmon twice). This is a good place to stay and is about as close to the launch point as you can get and not be sleeping in a tent.

The breakfast was about average for a motel, and the staff was friendly.

We rolled into the Stagecoach at the end of a 10-day road trip. It was the height of rafting season at 8pm and we had no reservation. Despite this, the woman at the front desk was friendly and helpful and gave us several options for a room. She even gave us a discount without making me dig the pertinent ID out of my bag.

As for the room itself, it was clean, large and comfortable, with a balcony and nice view of the river and the Bitterroot Mountains. Yes, the interior decor was dated, but what do you expect in Salmon, ID?!

This hotel is a good value for the money and I would definitely stay here again.

Room was huge, with two queen beds and a separate work area. Sliding door opened to balcony overlooking the Salmon River. Ten minutes walk to downtown. Excellent restaurant five minutes the other way. Free breakfast included coffee, juice machine, bagels/muffins and sweet rolls. Nice pet walking area to the south of motel. Convenient parking.

Front desk was unfriendly and pet owners were forced to sign a two-page agreement full of legalese that included "damages discovered after departure." We guessed this was aimed at rafters who left their dogs in the room all day, but we still didn't appreciate the fourth degree.

We checked out all the hotels in town and believe we chose the best by far. A great spot overlooking the river where you can sit outside and lets the kids play. The pool was the cleanest of all hotels we have stayed in and was safe for young children. Our room, on the bottom level was spacious enough for a family of five, and was very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. No hesitation in recommending this one.(Wife says excellent, I say above average).
