“Unacceptable experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We were due to stay for 1 night in August 2012. Booking confirmed by the owner in February 2012. On arrival were told that we didn't have a booking. On brandishing a copy of their confirmation email we we were told that our booking had been made before they had experienced "computer problems". Didn't receive much of an apology, left feeling very uncomfortable, and having to find somewhere else to stay.
Can't believe that they didn't have a back up booking system.
Resulted in us having to drive an additional 120 miles to Missoula that evening where we struggled to find a room as they were full of firefighters.
Spent 23 nights touring the USA and all other pre-booked rooms were no problem

What a beautiful, serene lodge. Great views of the Salmon River and the mountains - any direction you look, you see gorgeous scenery. Dave took us on a tour of the lodge and was very informative about the area. The Lodge is beautiful with a lot of attention to detail, including decor. We slept well and breakfast was good. We recommend stoping at the Syringa if you are in the area.

I was initially disappointed by the Stagecoach Hotel which gave my confirmed reservation away before I arrived around midnight, On this occasion all of the traditional hotels were full and the lackluster clerk at the Stagecoach indicated I could sleep on the couch in the lounge. Fatigued and in shock that this hotel had given my room away I pressed for other options and the SYRINGA LODGE was recommended. Somewhere around 1 am I was greeted to this beautiful lodge. Dave offered me a snack and set me up to get some overdue sleep. I awakened to discover an awesome setting in a impeccable clean lodge with just the right patina. Food and hospitality were 5 STAR. I would not stay anywhere else in Salmon but the Syringa Lodge.

We were travelling by motor bike with friends and booked this place as it seemed like a nice change from an everyday motel room. What a wonderful surprise on the hill! The rooms were unique and beautifully appointed; the common areas - living room/dining room were very comfortable as were the many decks overlooking beautiful Salmon. Paula and Dave were wonderfully hospitable! Truly a great place to stay on a return visit.

I'd go back to Salmon just to stay here again! We absolutely loved our stay here and I believe we actually underpaid for what we received. The lodge is pretty impressive upon driving up and only gets better upon entry. The hosts/owners were absolutely great and really go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable, even allowing us the use of one of their cars to get into town for dinner. Based on the couple of people who were obviously there as repeat customers, I'd say they are doing everything perfectly. We were shown to the rooms (all on second floor I believe) and were given the pick of any of the rooms. The rooms are impresively decorated, super clean, and had a very comfortable bed and pillows. There were a number of separate outdoor balconies to relax on and take in the views which we took advantage of.

On to breakfast....WOW. We had homemade (from scratch) coffee cake and English style scones, fresh bacon, eggs, and fresh fruits with coffee and orange juice. The nice plates, glasses, and cutlery made for a finer touch too.

After staying elsewhere in Salmon previously, I can say you'd be crazy to stay anywhere else.

This is a big log B&B that sits on a hill overlooking the town of Salmon, Idaho. It looks like it could be a hundred years old, but it's just over ten. On the outside, the building, designed by someone else, is a bit odd looking, but wait until you go in! Classy rustic western is the name of the game; like a western ranch mansion. There are leather chairs flanking leather sofas in front of the big rock fireplace, the ceiling is lumber supported by logs, walls are logs, floors are wood, nice rugs are scattered about, our room had a gorgeous log bed of stripped and varnished logs, a great portrait of John Wayne, tasteful wall paint and many more nice decorating touches. There are giant verandas on all sides with outdoor furniture and the view is magnificent. The lodge sits at the highest point of a twenty acre parcel that runs all the way down to the Salmon River with 750 feet of shoreline. In pictures it looks like it might be way out of town, but it's five minutes to the center of Salmon. Although rustic ranch house is the theme, the lodge has all the modern comforts. Bathrooms appear new. ALL ROOMS HAVE MEMORY FOAM MATTRESSES; not just toppers, a foot of the good stuff. It was the most comfortable mattress I've ever used and will get one like it when we get home. Breakfast was scrambled eggs, bacon, pecan waffles, plus all the usual sides. Coffee is available 24 hours and they are happy to refrigerate your drinks. Our host and hostess were both very friendly and helpful, giving us a good bit of history and geography when we inquired. I just LOVED this place and would recommend it to anyone. The entire building is air conditioned with window units so your room is the temperature you want. By the way, a Syringa, pronounced sir - ING - ga, is the Idaho state flower. Their web site is syringalodge.com.

Room Tip: Rooms have either queens or kings. If you have a preference, ask.
