The lobby is pretty--clean, with enormous vending machines with every drink option you could possibly need. The carpet, hallways, and room we were staying in were very drab. Claustraphobic? The room was so small, it was able to hold one queen size bed, a closet-wardrobe, small TV, AC, window, small shelf-like desk, one chair, and little nightstands, with the walls close enough to lean on in all situations.
I don't need new furniture or fancy closets, given that the world is already full of enough trash, including perfectly good furniture that people cast off because it is out of style. But I do expect a decent pillow and shampoo for the prices charged these days.
The things I thought would have been easy enough to provide and would have made our stay much nicer:
1) Quiet staff. They were hollering conversations to each other in the hallway and from different rooms at separate ends of the hall all morning, from early on. We had a long flight and drive just to get to the hotel very late. We had more travel ahead. Every bit of rest we could get before we had to check out was important to us. Their obliviousness to the potential that customers may be resting was obtrusive.
2) Shampoo. Nothing like getting in the shower and having to get out not feeling clean and refreshed.
3) More than two towels. If you are a person that has long hair, you will know that two towels are nice to have, and if you have a husband and long hair, three towels are nice to have.
4) Decent wireless connection. I'm sick of these hotels that advertise wireless everywhere and then can't provide a decent connection. It's disappointing and unlawful to advertise a feature, charge for a service, and then not provide the service. Why do so many hotels get away with this? Our connection went back and forth from being available to not being available. We eventually gave up trying.
5) A pillow. My pillow was flat and lumpy.
There were two positives about this place:
1) Clean
2) Low rates
I'm not sure I would rate it a two star, as AAA has done. Overall, I do want to give them a better review, I felt they could have easily done a few things to make our stay feel restful. The problem is, they aren't doing those things, so I must say, avoid this place if you are someone who needs to get rest and properly showered while checked in.
