Northern Idaho (anything above Lewiston in the Panhandle) does not have very many trails or places in the country that are not gorgeous. You can trip up on advanced hiking trails all the way down to trails you can walk with your 2 year old on. Its a national forest area and they do not have leash laws, so your dog (please only if they are friendly and do not chase wildlife) can run free and you can even get off the beaten path and make your own route to hidden gems that are not known to very many people. The panhandle and the CDA national forest has very few rivals in freedom and beauty when you are exploring!
