Stayed here for one night in early August while following the Lewis and Clark Trail - it was ideal to visit the Weippe Prairie and Clearwater River route. It was a hidden gem, given its fairly isolated location for a large hotel. Lots of people must pass on Highway 12 and not know of its existence.
The hotel itself was well situated at the meeting of two rivers and the bedroom we were given was large, comfortable, clean and had access to an outside balcony with great river views - not a big balcony but large enough for the two of us.
Downstairs in the public areas everything looked clean and fresh - it is a relatively new hotel - and the air conditioning was fist class. The outside deck of the hotel was outstanding - great views down the river, comfortable seating, umbrellas when the sun is just too hot, flowers, pond and water feature. Background music was pleasant and unintrusive. When it got cooler in the evening the reception staff put on the gas, log-effect, deck heaters and they were great. Fridges near reception held beer and wine for sale - at very reasonable prices, particularly for a hotel. Not sure how they manage these prices!!
We walked downtown to eat - a short walk. Not a great choice of restaurants - we were originally going to try the Ponderosa but another visitor had tried it and said the food was ok but it was overpriced. We settled on a Mexican restaurant and it was very good.
Breakfast was fine - decent choices and plenty of space, including the outside deck for warm mornings.
This is an excellent hotel. We have stayed in many Canada/USA hotels on our travels, including some of the best, but this is easily among our best choices. Being from the UK it is unlikely we will stop here again - but we won't stop thinking about it!!
