I stayed for three nights at the Best Western University hotel in Moscow, ID. I was bringing my student to Washington State, about 8 miles away, and booked this as a nicer alternative to the hotels that I'd used previously in Pullman. The Best Western site gave a good rate, and I was able to get an additional 10% with AAA number.*

The hotel is located on the main highway into Moscow, in an area of strip malls across from the University of Idaho. Despite the location, traffic noise was minimal, and there was convenient parking close to the front door. Check-in was handled well, although I couldnt' downgrade from a two-person room to a one person (my student wanted to stay in the dorm). The room was on the second floor but there was no elevator access.*

The room is large and clean, it had generous twin beds and a small sitting area. The room had coffee, mircowave, cable TV, and minibar. Free wireless internet was available, and the bathroom had a good tub/shower combination.*

Breakfast was included: it's served in a conference room as a large buffet. There is juice, cereal, fruit, coffee, pastries, but no cooked items. The hotel has a coffee bar and a casual restaurant, along with a more formal dinner restaurant (The broiler). There are many restaurants in the immediate area, so you are not limited to hotel choices.*

The hotel has a large pool and an exercise room: there are stair- and treadmill-machines available.

Stayed here a weekend for a baseball tournament. The hotel lobby and Pantry Restaurant were extremely busy when we checked in. Carpet could have been shampooed. Gentleman at the desk was friendly and very helpful. Hotel has two floors so for someone with trouble walking, they would need to be on the 1st floor. Room was neat and clean. Older decor. I did not realize when making reservations, they had rooms with two double beds instead of queen beds. Room was equipped with fridge and microwave and complimentary wireless internet access. Nice pool area, continental breakfast pretty much what one would expect-pastries, coffee, juice, cold and hot cereal, fruit, yogurt and boiled eggs. We did eat dinner the first night in the Pantry Restaurant. Friendly staff, good food at a fair price. There are also coupons connected to the floor map given to you at the desk. You can't beat the location. Right next to the mall, grocery store & variety of other restaurants. I would stay here again if I am traveling with my son alone; however, if traveling with my spouse and other child, I would prefer a hotel with two queen beds.

I have read the other reviews for this property and am wondering if we stayed at the same hotel. When we arrived the smell in the lobby area was a tad bit nauseating.

We checked in, after a long day of driving, unpacked the car, loaded onto luggage cart and proceeded to room which was on the second floor. After walking around for approx. 10 minutes we went back to the front desk to ask where the elevators were.... there are none! So my guess this is not a property that is to ADA standards unless all handicap persons are put on the first floor. After a long drive, lugging up luggage a flight of stairs is a tad bit irritating. Requested roll away on reservation form, was not in room.

Washer and dryer are in the open next to an exit. No place to sit while doing laundry and didn't want to leave the laundry for fear of it being stolen. Complimentary breakfast leaves much to be desired. Bread still in plastic bags all in a little basket on top of each other, the entire set up is shoddy. This property needs some serious renovations!

When we left the next day we drove past a brand new La Quinta on our way out of town, we definatly will be staying there next time.

Went to Moscow for a wedding. Rooms were booked in advance for wedding guests so I didn't specifically choose the BWUI, but for the most part I was pleased with the hotel.

The front desk personnel were quick, efficient and personable. I liked that there were hallways -- your door doesn't open to the outside -- felt safe there. The rooms and hallways were clean. I did not find it old, tired or worn at all, as other reviewers have stated. Didn't eat at either of the restaurants -- too much family stuff going on. But we did hit the Starbucks across the street in the mall more than once! And we didn't even see the pool, so can't venture an opinion there either. The Quiet Bar was just that, intimate, quiet, a pretty view into the courtyard. Friendly bartenders who made my Colorado Bulldog exactly the way I like it.

My only complaint, and the reason for only 4 stars, was the bed. It was so uncomfortable (hard) that I woke up sore every morning. This is a big thing when basically the only thing you're doing there is sleeping! Maybe I should have gone for 3 stars but that seemed a little harsh when the rest was quite nice.

Oh, and FYI if you can't do stairs be SURE and ask for a lower level room. The place has two stories and no elevators. (They'll help you get your luggage up if you need help with that.)

Overall, my stay was slightly above average, but an interaction with management late in the stay left a foul taste in my mouth. First, the good stuff:

+Friendly, helpful staff
+Decent location
+Nice pool area/ fitness center
+Large meeting facilities
+Intimate bar
+Popular breakfast spot
+Clean, secure, comfortable rooms

Things that need work:
+Ridiculous entrée prices in The Broiler ($30-50)
+Management attitude. To explain...

...I guess, since the hotel is near a university, the staff has a lot of interaction with local college students. Unfortunately, that showed up the the form of the bartender curtly asking for ID before I crossed the threshold of the lounge. Also, you might want to call the desk before inviting your friends to visit you at the pool. When management saw ten young people in the pool, they called the police on us BEFORE coming to talk to us! Once my name and room number were verified, the police were sent away; but I felt that a paying guest should be treated with a bit more respect.

WORSE than that was that when I asked to speak with the manager about it later, he couldn't be found. Upon checkout, I asked for a comment card, but the front desk agent "wouldn't know where to look for one."

So, bottom line is that the facility and front-line staff are above average, but the management attitude brings the score down to just average.
