“New owners are nice, updated room, better value & more availability than Super8”

Great location for an overnight stay between SLC and Yellowstone. Took a free tour of the Paris, Idaho Tabernacle, ate in Paris at the cutest antique store with homemade soup, sandwiches and pizza at a bargain price, then saw sandhill cranes and whitefaced ibis as we drove past the bird sanctuary on our way into Montepelier. Super 8 was sold out of the rooms we needed so we had reserved two nonsmoking rooms at Cloverleaf. We were pleasantly surprised to spend 25% less than we would have acrossed the street and we got a hot breakfast as well. I ate the waffles, grandpa had hot oatmeal, grandma had hot cocoa and minimuffins, the kids loved the biscuits and gravy, and my husband ate cereal and toast. I liked the guava-(passionfruit?) juice and liked having three juice choices. It was also nice to have filtered water.

We took the kids to the nearby playgrounds. Both were less than a block away. One NW at the Elementary the other NE behind the museum. We all enjoyed the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers museum and hope to have the time to go through the Oregon Trails museum on the next trip. There is also an Artic Circle with playplace two doors down from the Clover Creek Inn..

Our room had been updated with a new bed and a cute comforter and decorator pillows. We were able to park outside our door which we found convenient to Grandpa's handicap room. We met the owners who were a cute couple with baby. It turned out that their parents knew ours and got to talk about the old days. I liked it that there was a TV in the breakfast room. I would definately stay there again.

We met a young couple who were preparing for the Idaho bike trek (can't remember its official title) and drove highway 34 through Strawberry canyon at their urging. It was beautiful to take that scenic trip North through Grace, Idaho. We stopped at the Carabou County Fair and returned there later in the week for the rodeo. It was a wonderful trip. Breakfast at the Emmet hotel and museum across from the geyser in Idaho Springs and a few hours in Historic Chesterfield with milkshakes in an old time sodafountain in Bannock made for our best sidetrips ever on our third year in a row trip to Yellowstone. Idaho scenic roads rock!!!

“Nice Place- They try hard...”

Saw some bad reviews on this place.... I believe they were written back when the motel was still a Best Western. Things are much, much better!! Arrived late in the afternoon and unfortunately was given a room with an inefficient AC unit. They were very accomodating in getting us into a different room with an AC that could freeze halibut. This place is going through a renovation process that includes upgraded bedding with soft duvets, comforters ,etc. This is one of the few places that anticipates that a feather comforter may be too hot in the summer and has placed a thin blanket on the bed in addition to the duvet. A simple but nice breakfast was included. I can suggest the Clover Creek Inn. Ask for a rennovated room. (we had room #129) And just across the street and down the road is a small place called the Montpelier Grill. Try it ! Good sandwiches and french fries. They actually serve wine with the fries...

“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2008

There are a lot of inexpensive hotels in Montpilier, ID. We pretty my chose this one randomly. The room was spacious. The breakfast in the morning was wonderful. We also used their hot tub and ice machine.

  • Liked — Great breakfast
  • Disliked — no pool or internet

“Pretty nice, but a bit old”

This hotel is not so great, but apparently it's the best one in town. Our room was clean and decently maintained, though it seemed rather old. We had trouble with the air conditioning, which could be turned on and off but could not be adjusted, since the dial had fallen off. From the window we had a view of an empty lot with a few abandoned cars and other debris lying around. There was a small continental breakfast in the lobby. Overall, it wasn't bad, though we thought it didn't deserve its AAA 3-diamond rating.

We are new owners of this hotel as of November 2007. We have become independent and are no longer a Best Western. We are in full swing upgrading rooms and have had many great guest comments. We want travelers to know that we have increased our standards for cleanliness, improved the overall exterior and interior of the rooms. I hope travelers come and try our full hot braekfast, freshly painted rooms, and beautiful new duvets.
