I made reservations to Romano's with great anticipation as it had been several years since I had been there. I was looking for the great service, food, and atmosphere I remembered and recently read in reviews.
I was so disappointed. It started with the server who hurriedly took us to our seats and just set the two sets of tableware on a corner of the table that we weren't sitting at. She didn't say anything as to "enjoy your meal" or so and so will be right with you". Eventually someone did come to take our order. She hurried through our ordering and when bringing our appetizer said "here you go" as she set it on the corner of the table farthest from where we were seated. The plate barely settled on the table before she had turned away. She didn't ask if we needed anything else. We maintained our always very pleasant demeaner, but it never got any better.
The food was just okay. Certainly nothing more than the pasta dishes I make at home. And lastly, it may be my bad memory, but the atmoshere left little to be desired for a most rare spot to dine on Payette Lake in this small resort town. I have been coming to or living in McCall for over 20 years and would think that a resaurant with such potential would aim higher, but I guess they figure you're limited in choices for lakeside dining and they've "got you". I won't be back any time soon.
