This is a real jewell of a place. We stumbled upon it driving down Idaho 55, randomly looking for a place to stay. It is on a lake, and several second floor rooms have great views of the lake shore area. The restaurant, 'The Epicurean' is excellent -- with local and European favorites (although not really cheap). The present hotel has about 40 rooms, but they plan to add 100 more rooms in 2005. This will probably ruin the place. The present place has a wonderful old fashioned fireplace room, a nice lobby, and wide hallways. The fireplace room has games and puzzles if you want to try these -- ad a library. Our wing (the old wing) had no elevator. But the new wing does have an elevator. The staff tries very hard to be sure that you are happy. Our room (#30) overviewed the lake as well as the town. They told us that there could be an occasional truck in town at night, but we heard no noise at all. In the afternoon, they have a wine and peanuts hour. And in the evening they have cookies and milk. The room rate includes breakfast which is all home made, excellent scones, and all the usual cold breakfast foods. The rooms must have been renovated in the last 10 years -- they still have a 1900 character, but all the modern conveniences. The price for a double is in the 90$ range (in June), and really worth it. Parking is no problem. And you are right in the middle of this little Idaho town. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable about the area, and they really try to please.
